Are we forgetting just how many points LSU left on the field Saturday?

Auburn fans continue to stroke themselves over how close the score was. Game wasn't nearly as close as the score indicated. Could have easily been a 35-13 type game.

It was a 23-20 game that wasn’t ever really in doubt

We were pretty aggressive knowing another TD would ice it but really it is what it is.

Seems really dumb of LSU not to make that happen.

There were 2 Nix passes that were sure pick 6's if he had gotten the ball anywhere near the receivers - and he was actually really trying to throw it to them!

AU wins if Gus kicks FG before half and DJ Williams stays inbounds. What if game is really dumb.

It doesn't mean anythig in terms of predicting futures games... but it actually may have worked better for LSU in terms of perception that the game wasn't a blowout.

AP Voters are giving LSU lots of credit for beating AU because it was a close score. Easier to just dismiss AU as not being that good if it is 30-13 which is what the scoreboard easily could have been.

And anyone watching with an ounce of intelligence realizes that Auburn's defense is the reason LSU didn't score more points. They played a really good game on defense but just got worn down because they were on the field a bunch.

True, but it wasn’t. One big play could have lost LSU the game. Our production doubled Auburn’s, but it was a 3 point game. The final score is what matters. Had we finished off two drives and not muffed a punt, we could have won running away, but we didn’t.

ETA: I have to give credit to Auburn’s defense. They played the short field really well and didn’t give up big, deep plays. LSU had to drive the field.

We survived a tough test. Clemson did too. OU and UGA didn’t. Someone is going to hit you in the mouth during the season. How you respond is what defines you.

That’s the biggest takeaway we should have from the game.

Lulz.

There was plenty of doubt after Stingley muffed that punt.

I think this from ATVS sums up the game nicely:
quote:

6. Consecutive punts in the fourth quarter. LSU had multiple chances to put this game away, and Auburn had multiple chances to come back. It was great for the defense to keep forcing the punts, but bad that the offense couldn’t put this one away. Whodathunkit?

I mean Auburn threw a pick in field goal range to end the half and was inches from scoring a touchdown on the 1st drive of the 3rd

I can agree with this. AU came in to win and played their asses off. LSU won in the end, but it could have gone the other way had the defense not kept up the pressure.

ETA: I know AU’s offense isn’t that great, but they put up 50+ points 3 times this season. You have to respect that. LSU’s defense played well.
