Are Alabama and Georgia rolling with their current QBs next year or are they portalling?

Serious question. Not a troll.

Managing the QB roster is such a delicate balancing act, I'm curious about how some other schools will be handling it.

Ohio State is also in that discussion.

All three are losing veteran QBs. All three have 5-star QBs on the bench, but without experience.

Do they take a transfer and risk the young QBs transferring, or do they roll with what they have?

Simpson is the next in a pretty long line of All American and first team SEC quarterbacks.

I’d be surprised if UGA brought in a transfer.

I haven't seen anything to suggest Alabama is looking to bring in a QB from the portal.

Most likely Ty Simpson and Jalen Milroe will battle it out in the spring. I think most expect Ty Simpson to win out, but I'm not completely writing off Milroe just because of his less than encouraging performances in an emergency back up this season. He may develop.

For us, it's between Ty Simpson and Jalen Milroe. I'm honestly going to say that it's probably going to be Simpson that wins out the QB battle from what i've seen of his game so far.

Dude has a big rifle as an arm, I can tell you that

Very interesting to see how this plays out tbh

It'll be Carson Beck to start the season unless he completely falls on his face in fall camp.

For UGA
Carson Beck will be entering his 4th year in the program and 4th year with our OC. He was a 5 star junior in high school (Mr florida), but dropped to 4 star after a tough senior season with a lack of talent.

Brock Vandagriff will be entering his 3rd year in the program and 3rd year with our OC (Stetson is in year 3 with Monken now). 5 star (but played single A private school).

Gunner Stockton will be entering his 2nd year with Monken. He is considered the best quarterback despite being a high 4 star (.9506). He never did the camp circuit. His height is a knock. 6'1".

If any QB beats Carson Beck, Dawg fans have to feel pretty good about our chances.

If Carson does win the job, I think all 3 QBs stick around for the season.

Good stuff.

I don't ever remember this many major programs losing their QBs at the same time.

Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, Ohio State, Florida, Tennessee and even potentially LSU, depending on how that plays out.

I'm guessing Carson Beck does well enough in the spring to get the job and Georgia won't go portal hunting.

If we bring one in through the portal, it will be because we lost one or more through the portal, and would probably be to be a backup.

We’ll, a walk on did once and might a second time. What is your point?

Are you thinking we should not put the best we got out there?

McCord and Brown were both highly rated but I think Brown adds mobility that has been lacking with Stroud. With what we have coming in the following year I don't think QB is nearly important as other positions like CB which could benefit from a portal transfer.

We have 2 very good but very different QBs at Bama. BoB isn’t a good fit for either of their styles. We won’t be hitting the portal. The portal would likely cause both to transfer and have a true freshman as our backup.

UGA will have all 3 QBs through spring football.

I don't know why a QB would transfer for the summer to be a backup QB if he was any good.
At best, I could see a Dii or G5 QB transfer just for the opportunity to help his coaching chops after college. But no QB capable of playing is going to select a school where he is on the bench his last season of college football.

I'm on record stating that all 3 UGA QBs stick around if Carson wins the job. So we don't have a need, anyway.
