That has nothing to do with what the coach stated.

He used the word that the players used to say stop using "this" word.

Your daughters best friend may say( what ever b-word!) To her, that doesn't mean she would be okay with you saying it to her.

Yes I am black. Down vote to your hearts content. I have said my piece.

1- He never referred to a player by the word the player used.

2- Black men call women of all races B****.... ALL the time.

Nobody is rationalizing it. You seem butthurt over people pointing out that our race HERE in the USA own slaves too.

At no point was anybody that is alive not a human with all of the benefits of be a USA citizen.

Yes, at one point the WORLD owned slaves. We moved past it except in a few places. THE WORLD OWNED..

That’s still not a racial slur. It’s mean and uncalled for, but different. There are racial slurs for people with white skin. Redneck isn’t one of them.

Yes it does. Yes it is. It's used in the same manner and context as non blacks used and referred to a segment of black population.

I have heard many times non blacks refer to white people as "N" too. It is used in place of "Trash"...

quote:

you're delusional if you think redneck isn't a racial slur.

It does and he knows it. But he will continue to reject it so he can continue to use it on a certain segment of the white population.

You using that word is the same as non blacks using the N word to our people with a derogatory meaning.

It's racist.

He still should not have said it! The kid is wrong, but Patterson could have easily said, “Stop using the n word”

Yes, we blacks use the word and it gets thrown around in every sentence and it has to stop.

Its a word .... he didn't call anybody by that word. Nothing wrong with it. Period.

Yes, we blacks use the word

And we need to stop acting like we are offended over everything and demanding double standards.

We owned slaves in the USA. Thats a historical fact.

We use words we don't want others using.... fact.

We are demanding safe spaces... that equal segregation. Fact.

We demand group think and action and when a person does not adhere to that group think and action we label them in ways that are sickening. Fact

I see racism from several posters here of color. Its sickening.

My brother, with all due respect, it is not just a “word”

Like I said, we black are at fault here also, since we use the word for just about anything.

Telling players to stop saying n***** by actually saying, "Stop saying n*****!" is certainly a bold strategy.

to me it would be time to play the race card...all this social justice change about racism, well it goes both ways...

"so you are saying you are allowed to say a certain word, but I am not based on the color of my skin?"

In this sense it was. He did not refer to another human being by it.

We both know that. You seem to be legitimately speaking some truth.

We need to stop the "trash" talk that we some how embrace as culture. And we have to stop demanding everything is racist.

Its not. There was nothing racist about what he stated. You seem to agree. If it was jot racist.... then there was nothing wrong with it.

Come on man. He should not have said the actual word. I don't think him using it makes him a racist due to the context in which he was using it, but he should have used better judgement and not said the actual word. There's significant power that still resonates in that word whether you want to believe it or not.

As a white man, I can see that there is a difference in black people using it as a term of endearment and as an insult, i.e. the Chris Rock segment. I also realize that a white people have no right to use the word in any regard due to it's horrific history in this country.

White coaches are going to be scared to death to have any type of real conversation with a black player the way some of these guys turn on them when they get mad about something. “Players” coaches are dead. Prepare for only “robo” coaches who talk without saying anything and don’t form any real relationships.
