Seems these three have absolutely dominated the rest of the league since both UT and AU jumped on the scene in the 2017-2018 season.

Since the beginning of that season, Weeks spent in the AP Top 25:

38- Kentucky
36- Tennessee
27- Auburn
-----
14- LSU
13- Miss St.
12- Florida
10- Texas A&M
2- Ole Miss
2- Alabama
1- Arkansas

Number of SEC Games Won (Reg. Season + SEC Tournament):

32- Tennessee
29- Kentucky
28- Auburn
----
24- LSU
22- Florida
21- Miss St.
20- Arkansas
19- S. Carolina
19- Alabama
16- Texas A&M
16- Missouri
15- Ole Miss
11- Georgia
6- Vanderbilt

Now here we are with those three being the only 3 SEC teams ranked in the AP Top 25, as well as the Top 3 SEC teams according to KenPom.

Now I click over to the 247Sports 2020 Basketball Recruiting Rankings, and I see them looking like this:

1. Kentucky
4. Tennessee
10. Auburn
----
17. LSU
24. Georgia
26. Florida
32. Texas A&M
34. Arkansas
51. Miss St.
69. S. Carolina
76. Ole Miss
80. Alabama
86. Vanderbilt
116. Missouri

Can anyone else jump into that Top 3? LSU was up there with them last year, but was horrible the year before and don't look to be as good this year as they were last year. I thought Florida would be the team to join that group this year, but it doesn't appear so now. Maybe Arkansas?

Somehow we live in a world where Tennessee and Auburn have joined Kentucky as consistently good SEC Basketball Programs at the top. Didn't think we'd ever be here, but here we are.

Maybe Auburn, but VOLS have been the clear #3 program in the SEC since the turn of the century.

We are a year away, though this team could be a giant pain in the butt to play given how we've played defense so far.

I like what the Muss is doing but we are going to need another cycle of recruiting to really make a move I think. We just don't have enough height right now to survive SEC play.

This year if we challenge for an NCAA spot we are ahead of schedule. Next year, if the recruiting goes well, then we might be in the mix for top 4 in the SEC.

If they land on the two remaining targets for the 2020 class, Arkansas projects around a top 5 class. Obviously that will change with other teams adding players. Musselman has done a very good job so far in his short time he has been there. Has a small team with little depth playing really hard right now. Long way to go but so far A+.

Thanks for sharing that. Tons of good info for everyone in the league to glean from. It's been encouraging to see Barnes have his guys playing this well in what was supposed to be a "transition" year with everything we lost from last season and having to wait for this years recruiting class to make it on campus. He's built a culture in Knoxville that doesn't appear to be heading anywhere until he decides to hang it up. Dave Hart did one thing right and that was locking up Prick for the mountain folk.

Under Pearl, yes, but that status was completely under the Bruce Pearl umbrella so let's not act like that was the norm.

From 1984-2005, Tennessee made the NCAA Tournament just 5 times in 22 seasons.... only two other current SEC programs made the tournament fewer times during the same period of time: South Carolina (4x) and Texas A&M (1x).

Then Bruce Pearl came to Knoxville and took the Vols to the Tournament in all 6 seasons he was there as head coach.

After Pearl left town, the Vols only made the Tournament one time in six seasons prior to Barne's first Tournament appearance in 2018.

From 1984 all the way up through 2017, Tennessee made the NCAA Tournament just 12 times and half of those were all during the Bruce Pearl years. Take Pearl's run out of the equation, and Tennessee made the Tourney just 6 times during the 27 other seasons since '84 in which someone else was coaching.

So again, let's not act like Tennessee has ever proven themselves to be a Top Tier SEC basketball program outside of Bruce Pearl at the helm.

LSU hasn't won a game at the SEC Tournament since 2016. Yes, you have a regular season SEC Title last year, but you've done nothing in the Post Season except disappoint.

If LSU finishes in the Top 3 in SEC play and proves they are capable of not blowing it in March, you might get to join the current Big 3 at the top. But you're not there at the moment.
