I need to know which Bucknut tree Ohio State performs sacrifices under to be the only school in the country immune to downturns.

Since 1968 here are their "bad" years (4+ losses) and the follow up seasons

1971 : 6-4
1972 : 9-2

1978 : 7-4-1
1979 : 11-1

1987 : 6-4-1
1988 : 4-6-1
1989 : 8-4
1990 : 7-4-1
1991 : 8-4

1994 : 9-4
1995 : 11-2

1999 : 6-6
2000 : 8-4
2001 : 7-5
2002 : 14-0

2004 : 8-4
2005 : 10-2

2011 : 6-7
2012 : 12-0

They've had 2 "bad periods" in 50 years, and those were basically a couple of 7-5/8-4 seasons back to back

It's unbelievable

TBH Texas wouldn't even be here if it weren't for the fine folks of Tennessee

Texas underperforms for sure but Tennessee just straight up lays on the field like a fish and just takes it. Texas at least tries to be competitive

Of that list..what teams haven’t won a national title during that span? Very curious.

Yeah they are incredibly consistent. It probably helps to be in the Big 10. I don't think its possible to be that consistent in the SEC over a period of multiple decades.

That awkward feeling when you're complaining about lack of downturns, but you're also Bama.
