Anyone else feel like the 2009 ole miss-lsu game doesn't have nearly enough legacy?

Sure, it was the story of the week about the infamous clock-it frick up, but that game is hardly mentioned when you read lists about famous chokejobs, bad decisions, jaw dropping endings, etc.

Many people remember other famous chokejob endings (plenty of mich choke jobs are widely remembered), but that game kind of disappeared into the wind, never to be mentioned or thought about again. Even though the ending was so shockingly stupid.

Basically a worst version of that exact situation happened for LSU against Tennessee the next season.

UT bailed them out with a penalty for having too many players on the field, but Tiger Stadium likely hasn't seen the amount of boos it felt that day in a long time.

Miles really must have come close to getting fired in 2010. Could have lost that game and came a hair away from losing a dramatic one to a not great Florida team in Meyer's last season there.

That was a great game. Ole miss LSU generally is. Has been for years.

Pretty good one. Though I thought the 2012-2014 games were better.

I was there. Emotional roller coaster for LSU fans. That game was really weird. I think LSU returned a blocked FG for a TD to start the game and it felt like we would roll. Not the case. The way those last 2 minutes were managed by Les were an all time debacle. No excuse.

It was even weirder squeaking out an OT win on a missed FG the next weekend in Tiger Stadium with like ~70,000 people. Nobody gave a shite after the Ole Miss game, but that Arkansas game is sneakily one of my favorite games in Tiger Stadium that never seems to get talked about.

That was a great game. When it is mentioned, all the talk is about the vicious hit by Chad Jones on Joe Adams, but no one ever mentions how Adams got up first and then scored a TD a couple of plays later.

I also still think the refs screwed us good for the 2nd time that year, with Florida being the first.

That was almost the beginning of the end for Miles. Fate had other plans.

I listened to part of it in the shooting house and on the way home. I watched the end at my parents’ house. It was amazing.

I’ve never been more pissed as a fan when I left that game.

The ending? No. He was to blame for the idiotic chaos just before the ending, and was lucky to be bailed out from it.

I liked how Les Miles lied and said he did NOT tell his QB to spike the ball.

Video revealed otherwise.

The spike wasn’t the worst part. Running off time prior to the long pass was what did it for me. In the ensuing chaos and :1 left situation, I could see a qb panicking. But a good time manager would have never had his team in that situation.

Verne yelling “what are they doing?!?” will always be my favorite part of that game.

Yep, this scene is vivid in my mind. Ole Miss spent the last 2 possession kamikaze blitzing every play. I was calling for a screen pass and bang, we finally throw it and are in FG position to win. All is good. 1:30 left and we need like 10 15 yards to feel really confident.

We proceed to go incomplete pass, moronic sack, check down to Ridley and he stays in bound. The whole LSU section was yelling to call a timeout and they let like 25 seconds off before doing so. It was atrocious.

There were 3 seconds left when first down was signaled, not 1 second left. Why no review? They did it for Texas is the big 12 championship game and put time back in the clock.

Les Miles could not manage time. Remember the end of the 2016 Auburn game?

Look it up if you don't and then look up Les's employment a few days later.

Les Miles threw JJ under the bus for that.
I wonder if that had anything to do with his allegiance to Jefferson going forward at LSU.
