For those too lazy to read that Duke losing is bad because
1. People had them winning on their brackets
2. No name brand schools in Final Four
3. Muh Zion fetish
Can the media suck them off any harder?

Why? Aren't we all supposed to hate Duke? Aren't we all supposed to think Coach K. is the devil?
No, we're not. At this time of the year we want to see the best college basketball teams battle it out in the Final Four and now we have… Virginia, Michigan State, Auburn, and Texas Tech.
Duke's loss is bad for a number of reasons, starting with that Final Four that nobody in the world probably had in their brackets. The villain is gone and now the rest of the college hoops season is a battle between also-rans.
Duke's loss is bad because we don't get to watch Zion Williamson anymore. Sure, people like to complain about all the coverage he gets but I'm guessing those same people get mad when Tiger Woods gets shown a lot during a golf tournament. These guys push the needle and make things interesting and deserve all the air time they get. It's why we're watching.

Also rans? We beat Kansas, North Carolina and Kentucky in back to back to back games. Two of those teams got run out of the fricking building. Also rans nothing. We’re still running and Dook can hold these nuts.

Well if Duke was one of the four best teams in the country, they would be playing next week. Guess what they are not.
It just goes to show that having a great freshmen does not guarantee anything. As a great as they are , there is no pressure like the NCAA Tournament and until you experience it, there is no duplicating it.
I am actually pumped to see some new blood this year. It has been a while for Michigan State, 35 years for Virginia and first time for TT and Auburn. I think it is great.

Texas Tech beat Gonzaga.
UVA beat Purdue.
Auburn beat Kentucky.
These 4 teams deserve to be there, and anyone (including bloggers/sportswriters) who doesn’t like it can go kick rocks for all I care.

Also, the OP is spot on. frick Duke with a capital F. Michigan State is a damn good program. It isn't some travesty that Duke lost to them.
ETA: We recently had that 25 year celebration of beating Duke for the national title and it pisses me off to this day when people recall how the media wrote Arkansas off in that game because Duke had "smarter" players.

The article in question just as easily could have been crying about Kentucky losing to Auburn, but the point you made stands- it's about the play on the court, not the popularity in the media.
That's the beauty of the NCAA tournament- if this was football, then the 1 seeds would all get a pass into the Final Four. And the 1 seeds, just like those selected by the Football committee, are just that- popularity selections, based on reputation as much as achievement.
Michigan State could have been a 1 on merit, and Texas Tech honestly could have been borderline 1/2. And Auburn is currently playing like the overall #1, and has been insanely hot since the last week of the regular season.

Duke and Kentucky are both entitled fan bases. Followed closely by Kansas and UNC.
