Alliance wants 8 conf. games, 4 with other conferences (2 each)

What would this do to those ACC / SEC intrastate rivalries?
Would state legislatures enforce them? Let them go?
What would happen to the few already scheduled SEC / OOC P5 games?
This setup would block out the SEC from any meaningful OOC games henceforth.
I would welcome an all "P5" type schedule, but unless the SEC scheduled a 12 game conference schedule, the SEC would be playing a bunch of junk games when teams like Penn State and Oregon will be playing 12 meaningful games.
Could make the difference in a playoff selection.
Further, I feel if the Alliance gained teeth, they could block out , or limit, the amount of SEC schools to the playoffs/ major bowls.

Where did you see this?
Worse comes to worse you just play 12 conference games and you still have the best football in the country.

I think 12 SEC conference games beats anything the "alliance" can put out

Yeah, easily.
They wouldn’t have their top teams play each other yearly.
Side note, I really dislike what is happening to CFB it will be unrecognizable in 10 years

yep. The suits like money. Who doesn’t? I’d watch South Carolina v Aggs before I’d watch Oregon v West Virginia.

Then the SEC would invite Clemson/FSU/GT/Louisville and tell the Alliance to kick rocks.

I'm with you, Oklahoma State, V-Tech, NC State or UNC over GT imo, but whatever works.

I don't see any way that the Alliance goes to 8 conference and a home/away set against the other two conferences, honestly. Not only does this do away with the ACC/SEC rivalries that are designated by state legislatures, which would be a hard sell for some of the Alliance's premier programs, but you also have a full twelve-game gauntlet that simultaneously paints your partnership as the "bad guy" since it takes away from the number of guarantee games that keep smaller schools afloat.
An eight-game conference slate with one home/one away against the other two conferences seems much more likely.

Mizzou will be a powerhouse by then! :)

The Alliance isn't going to block the SEC out of anything. The SEC is money and the Bowls, CFP, and Networks are not going to chop off their noses to spite their faces. Plus ESPN owns the ACC. And even if the Alliance could boycott the SEC, an all SEC schedule would be more exciting than playing the other P4 conferences anyway.

This would hurt the alliance more than the SEC.
Plain and simple.

If the SEC was forced to go to a 12 game conference schedule, the SEC would probably go ahead and expand to 18 teams.
8 games against your division and 4 against the other division.
I believe the SEC would go very hard after ND in that scenario. Clemson might even jump on board the SEC too.

Did y’all see the Rose bowl on Saturday? There were maybe 20k fans, no way the alliance is a threat to the SEC.

The one thing that really confuses me with the Alliance is the ACC. It's clear the B1G/PAC are using it to try and at least split the playoff between ESPN and FOX because they don't like the relationship ESPN has with the SEC, yet currently the ACC is the only Power 5 league that has an exclusive agreement with a network...and that Network is ESPN! And they have exclusive rights to the ACC! Surely ESPN won't be happy about that.

This. There is no way they do this. It would kill football at the smaller schools.

Does scheduling fall to the school, or can the conference actually decide who you can/can’t play? Like if Clemson wanted to play SC, could the ACC stop them?

That is the smartest thing I've ever seen from any of those conferences. I've said for years that is what should be done and I wish the SEC would have done so.
Alabama was starting to do something like that, but then some of the teams are now in conference and we got too many fricking teams now. People talking about 9 and 10 conference games don't know what the hell they are doing.
And compared to what the SEC is doing under the current dumbfrick, a sign that the SEC is losing it's touch. The SEC has has the superior format with the 8 conference games while those were mostly doing 9. Now it looks like we're about to switch.
It's not that complicated. All conference games equal out to .500 as a conference. Guess what happens when you add more conference games? You give the conference more losses and make it look weaker overall.

This is the worst possible thing that could happen. The conference record will be .500.
You show conference strength by beating other conferences.

If the ACC are such babies they can't handle getting knocked down on Thanksgiving weekend that's their business.
Add another conference game. It's not the same as whipping Louisville but SEC has better teams anyway so it'd be more interesting
