One of the craziest days of my life.

It's amazing how you completely forget how it looked before.

I've had times as a kid where we've had to get in the closet with the weather radio and hope nothing happens, but I can't imagine being there when something actually does happen. it's just insane

Yep we were pretty calm until we saw what the tornado looked like on TV. We hauled arse up the street to my friends house who had a cellar under his house.

The apartments I lived in at the time were about 100 yards from the tornado (university downs). The damage done in such a short time is/was mind boggling

My apartment was supposed to get nailed, but thankfully the tornado turned away from there. Some of my friend's places weren't so lucky though.
Also, the Moody basement is a fricking bomb shelter. And in retrospect, sitting in front of the elevator listening to the wind howl down the shaft probably wasn't a great idea.

We were over on 12th street and because the power was out we had no idea how bad things were until we drove into the area. Walking around in that area was just eerie.

Are you talking about the "death head" in the foliage?
If you are just talking about the trees being gone, it could have been the tornado, and it could have been they just bulldozed everything because it was faster to clear up.

I'm missing something.
The link on the top takes you to the image that is also the first image on the second link. However, said image is of the Cottages of Hattiesburg, in Hattiesburg, MS.

Really an unbelievable day. I walked the streets after and it looked like 15th street had been shelled by artillery.
