Claiming a player is Jesus before they ever take a snap? Don’t be like LSU fans

I could advise you not to be such a casual fan as to decide who you will like simply due to the school that accepts your application

He's had some good scrimmages and a great A-Day, but it's waayyy too early to tell how that will actually translate on the field, IMO.

Hall was rated as the fifth best WR in the 2021 class, so there certainly is some optimism there.

I mean...when we freak out about a player before he plays a down of college football, it's usually warranted. Remember when we freaked out about this video from a fall scrimmage back in 2008?

JPW to Julio

It turns out our love affair of Julio Jones was warranted as he went on to make an immediate impact on the field. Conclusion? Generally speaking, Alabama fans have a higher football IQ than LSU fans.

Maybe we should wait until he actually plays very well against those in a different uniform.

I've seen his film and he will be a MONSTER... He has all of the tools... Cautiously optimistic about his All-America candidacy... That said if he gets enough PT, with his abilities, I'd say ALL-SEC is very strong possibility..

Do you remember Jamie Newman? You guys had him winning the Heisman because he had decent numbers at Wake Forest against awful ACC competition. He never took a snap for Georgia.

to be clear I mean a potential Freshman All America candidate, which about every major source has a team; ESPN, 247, USA Today, AP, etc.

The fact I did not capitalize "freshman" in my first post was a mistake.

All that said, of course it's subjective to predict a freshman team before the season. Subjectivity has never precluded an opinion on The SEC Rant

and that said, he's a lock

Duron Carter? There were some Alabama fans excited about him because he had measurables very similar to Julio. But our excitement for him had more to do with the fact that he was the only WR on our depth chart who seemed to have any size. After Julio Jones left for the NFL, our #1 WR was Marquis Maze and our #2 WR was Darius Hanks. Maze was 5'8" and Hanks was 5'11" or 6'0" depending on which media guide you believed.

Duron Carter was 6'5".

People can say what they want, Agiye Hall is a future first-round WR. I mean is that really such a crazy thing to say? We've had 4 WRs go in the first round over the last 2 drafts. He's a 5 star guy who's already showing out as a true freshman. Saban said he's one of the most explosive guys on the team. It would be more of a shocker if he didn't end up as a first round guy.

Hall was the best receiver in our A-Day game and it wasn't close. Given that he was playing a lot with the 2s it was doubly impressive. Time tells the story, but normally our best playmakers have been freak athletes.

Duron Carter would have been good in college. He never got eligible but he played some in the CFL. Very similar to Duke Williams talent and head-on-shoulders wise.

The reason you can never tell who will be a star is it has more to do with work ethic than talent. One of my nephews played ball in HS with OJ Howard. After his freshman year, nephew comes back and says, man OJ says his roommate is this guy named Derrick Henry and that fricker is doing push-ups all day and all night long, says OJ has never seen anything like it. At that moment I knew Derrick Henry would be a monster.

Hall is probably the most freakish athlete we've had at WR since Julio Jones. He's a ridiculous talent.

Not knocking you, discussions are awesome.. Unlike some wannabe "Coach Sabans" here, I don't knock people for speculating here on message boards... I think that it's stupid to rag on someone for bringing up subjects like this.. I mean, these are discussion boards...
