I've been doing a lot more vinegar-pepper based sauces recently since I got Rodney Scott's cookbook. His style is Eastern South Carolina, so it makes sense.

Want to try my hand at some mustard based sauces next.

You are right, my bad. I only eat there on occasion. The problem with her place is you feel sticky when you leave there. That shows their smoker is nonstop and has been around for a while. Good chicken never had their pork.

I used to work near there. Always leave smelling like smoke. I tried the ribs, brisket, pulled pork, but the chicken was the best thing on the menu.

Nothing good has ever come out of Alabama

Well, in the primary subject of this board - college football, Alabama is unparalleled. It produces the greatest college program of all time and it's not even close. Both historically and currently.

It also has AU - a top 15 program historically.

It has also produced (they were born in Alabama) several NC winning coaches who have won a NC outside the state (Just counting wire service NCs since 1936):

Bobby Bowden - attended Alabama and Howard, aka, Samford (Birmingham)
Dabo Swinney - attended Alabama
Homer Norton (Texas A&M) - attended Birmingham Southern
Kirby Smart - attended Georgia
Danny Ford - attended Alabama
Vince Dooley - attended Auburn

That's 6 of the ~58 NC winning coaches in history were born in Alabama - more than 10%.

Countless College and NFL HOF players.

So, just in the small sphere of the primary topic of this board, Alabama has made its contributions.

Miss Myra’s rocks and I prefer their white sauce … on the chicken only … to Big Bob’s, they put something in there that gives it a little kick.

SAW's has some great white sauce. Have to order the chicken thighs plate where they mix it with their red sauce. Man that's some good eatin.

Mustard based sauces are nice. I used to work with a guy who used a mustard based rub when smoking meats, bark was to die for.

I don't always like it everywhere, but SAW's has figured it out. They do it on their BBQ fries too but I eat too much when I get that so I try to abstain.

ETA: This is at the Hoover SAW's location. I don't know that they do this at every SAW's location.

The Homewood location is the best. It is a hole in the wall, but that smoker they have is one of the best.
