They never gave Smith any help and hardly ever blitzed Lawrence.

Simply NOT true. The only Power 5 team Bama blitzed more last year was Texas A&M.

Bama blitzed Lawrence on 35% of his dropbacks, well above their 25% blitz rate entering the game.

In fact, Bama blitzed Lawrence 55% of the time in the 2nd half. Bama hasn’t blitzed that much in the 2nd half of a Power 5 game since Auburn in 2016.

Alabama's secondary was dog shite last year, and their linebacker play wasn't particularly good either, relative to previous teams. Until I see evidence that these issues have been corrected, I won't believe they can win a national championship this year.

You need to get a grip. Alabama's secondary looked pretty good all year against everyone not named Clemson. They weren't the same defense of the past few years, but they were not that far off. You were being put up as possibly the greatest college FB team of all time, and you bring back most of the key pieces from that team with new talented players coming in.

There will still be a glaring gap in overall talent between you and your opponents every time you step on the field until the SEC championship game next year against UGA. You are loaded at QB and WR, and I can guarantee that the defense will see improvement. Yall need to chill. You can bet that Saban is flat pissed and is injecting that attitude into his team this offseason. Enjoy the ride, because your glory years are not over yet.

Who we'd have to beat to win the national championship.

None of which are the national championship.

We're pretty chill, just realistic. We're better than everyone else in the SEC by a decent margin outside of Georgia, and that's fun and cool, but that doesn't win a national title.

You rewatched a game that didn't involve your team? You must have a whole lot of time to kill.

Well, yeah, even a 1% chance would mean that they can win.

But no...they won't win it without significant improvement in the areas I mentioned.

You just contradicted your own comment. If one can do a thing it's not rational or reasonable to declare that it won't.

Be reasonable
Be rational
Don't be a silly Willy

Ok, I'll play along. Can we lose to Western Carolina? Is it rational or reasonable to declare that we can't?

L8U . . . still not a rival. Stop trying.

Aubies and Vols? Every day of the week. Every minute of the day.

Bama has lost 4 games in FOUR years! ONE each year. Are you Klatt or Cowherd?

Alabama Is 53-3 Since Joel Klatt & Colin Cowherd Said Nick Saban & The Tide Were Done.

okay, little bro. One day LSU will accomplish something and then you'll be able to post about them, as well.

L8U fans probably like your optimism but realistically they're ceiling is 3rd place in the west for the foreseeable future.

There are articles out there that admit you put in a month on Alabama. If you want you can go find them. This year's schedule is a joke, and no matter who you play after the Texas Aggie game you have a two game season.

Prove me wrong.

But look at late last year. While Bama was in a war with a Mississippi State defense with some extremely good talent on it, who did CU play? Bama did have a rivalry game with Auburn...Clemson?

SEC Championship with Top 10 UGA...Clemson? Then they got the bad draw in the playoff with Oklahoma while Clemson played a team that shouldn't even have been there.

You boys got a taste of the SEC West in College Station and your refs bailed you out. You would not go unbeaten playing Bama's schedule every year.

By the time that happened the issue was decided. A huge hole had been dug. Clemson has a cakewalk to the playoffs with one caveat. As weak as that schedule is, one loss likely keeps them out.

I get that all the wiener-surfing during the championship game may have confused you, but you aren’t actually Clemson and your coach definitely isn’t Dabo.

I like the OP and I upvoted. I want more sports journalists to say things like this too. I want the Bama players to hear it to. I’m worried about complacency so pour on the “Bama is finished” rhetoric. In my opinion Georgia is going to put a 60 minute game together finally in Atlanta and win the 2019 SEC Championship. The question is will UGA be beating Bama, LSU, or Auburn? I’m not sure.

UGA has internal issues, the immates run that asylum. The selfishness that showed up in the bowl, the offseason arrests..teams like that don't win championships.

Watch this game again. No need to be intimidated. Bama is in decline.

I agree. At the rate they're declining it won't be 10 or 12 years to get to LSU's level.

Idk man in the last two games we played UGA they were winning 117 minutes of those 120 minutes of the games. I know Bama won in the minutes that mattered but Georgia is just as talented as Bama man for man. LSU is just as talented as Bama at every position except their OLine vs our DLine. Once Orgeron gets the linemen in Baton Rouge LSU will be ready to end our streak. I just feel UGA is due sooner or later.
