My company, who was completely destroyed in the tornado (with 5 of us in it) has already relocated and were up and running....we were actually in a new building exactly 1 week afterwards.

Anyways, one of the girls that we pulled out of the rubble is finally out of the hospital. She was there a month in critical condition with a broken back. Several of her vertebrae were crushed. Her father came into the store and shook our hands and thanked us. It was kind of emotional for me and I'm not usually an emotional person, but myself and one of my employees played a major part in getting her out.

I will never forget that day for the rest of my life....

If you hadn't of said that was a golf course, no one would know. That's just a terrible feeling.

They've done a good job cleaning it up without damaging the actual course believe it or not. But half the trees that lined it are gone now. Pics really don't do justice for what was down and tore up. Part of the roof on the left side of the lodge had tarps on it, but otherwise, the actual bldg was pretty ok. You can only go to the lodge and chalet though, the rest of the roads are shut down for clean up. I expect it will take at least a year for the logging company to clear just the immediate trees that you can view immediately from the roads. The campground will be just grass from here on out after they cut down the pine stobs that was left.

On a side note.. that's the first time I've been to the Park since the lodge was built.. and it's got an unbelievable view. Wished my pic could convey the actual awesomeness of being up there.

Looking down from the top platform, to the left, not in the pic is a pool that looks over the bluff too.

I haven't been up to Guntersville in five years. It's sad to see it like that.

One of the few state parks that actually MAKES money. I heard the launch at Waterfront was pretty messed up too.

There was alot of trees down. Some buildings damaged, but looks like the extent of most was to trees. Will still take awhile to recover due to the sheer magnitude of how many trees were down. Hopefully they can get the rest of the park open by the end of summer. Campgroud probaby won't be until next yr I'd guess.

All the buildings looked in good shape save for the roof on the left side of the rooms if you're facing the front of the lodge from the parking lot. Didn't see any problems at all concerning the main part of the lodge.

In Tusc today for the first time since the tornado, wow. I don't think anyone said a word for about 20 minutes driving around town.

You think you've seen it with the pics but its different.

Archibald's was great though.
