Sorry, all the stats in the world don't mean shite. I didn't even bother to read but i'm pretty sure what it will say. But, at the end of the day, LSU is the #1 baseball program in the SEC and possibly the country (although that one is way more contestable than the SEC). So please, stop trying to find moral victories with stats. It's like saying LSU out played Bama this year in football... doesn't matter cause they still lost. Stop trying to make yourself feel better.

I agree, Polk is the undisputable God Father of SEC baseball. It's a shame that his coaching tenure put him up against some of the greats of college baseball back then, Texas & USC. He deserved to win at least one NC if not more for what all he brought to college baseball in the SEC. Skip then took Polk's foundation & ran with it, bringing the league to a whole difference level of excellance. A look at the current Top 10 in college baseball is proof what Polk & Skip has done for the league's baseball programs. USCe is obviously adding to the greatness of SEC baseball.

Excellent post and points. Should also be noted that the "foundation" was at MSU pre-Polk with the "lounges" and fan support already being in place under Gregory. Polk certainly took that a gigantic leap forward with the recruiting and building of the current grandstand structure at DNF in 85.

Should also be noted how the "rules" that Ron Polk rallied against for 25 years here also limit the capability of State/OM as baseball programs. The amount of success that we manage to have without lottery scholarships is pretty unprecedented really(essentially giving us less than half the total "baseball" scholarships other teams have). The reason we've managed to curb that disadvantage to an extent under Cohen is that he actively processes players -- whereas Polk never would(and this was the main reason Polk wanted Raffo over Cohen). It sucks in a way, but it is the ONLY way you can consistently compete at the level that we hope/expect at MSU given the scholarship disadvantage...

Just another stat proving that Mississippi State has carried this conference on its shoulder from the beginning.

Interesting list. Especially Fordham. They started playing baseball before the civil war.

The team missing from your football list is Texas, which is second in wins (Notre Dame is one behind) and fifth in win percentage (Ohio State and Oklahoma passed up the Horns in win percentage during the past two seasons).

I in no way consider Texas a historically superior program to Alabama, though (this was just an FYI).

At the end of the day, you can have your stats! I will take our hardware all day everyday and twice on Sundays! Nice try though!
