As the smoke ascended late into the Autumn evening, it was clear that the pure disgust with everything associated with the viles football program was secure for another year.

For all those hammerheads tracking their way back to their hillbilly shacks, it was comforting to know, once again, we had destroyed the "Vol'n'Tears."

Which is why the post specified cable, numbnuts.

I’d love for you to attempt to articulate why that differentiation still matters in 2021. Maybe pre-streaming era but the designation as broadcast vs cable is moot in 2021.

lol yeah. Didn't think about it as ratings. My mind went to people's opinion of something.

Broadcast networks reach more households than cable networks, even when it comes to behemoths like ESPN; as an example, your mom's trailer can get CBS and ABC with an antenna yet she's going to be unable to watch the hellacious arse-whipping Tennessee lays on the Wildcats come November 6th.

Since the number of viewers listed for each game is built off of a small subset of observed data (I'm sure you thought it was an actual count, which is pretty funny), one of the ways by which the estimate is determined is weighing the results with network reach. If you can't understand why this pattern holds true every season when it comes to games on broadcast versus cable, that's just something I'll have to take up with Mama BlueBlood2020 the next time I see her.

You must be one of those poor people with only one TV.

If you kept up with recent data at all, you would know that the reach difference between the two is now virtually nil, considering using antenna is nearly obsolete.

I didn’t think it was off actual viewers. Your laughing at your own wrong assumption isn’t funny, it’s sad.

But hey, we’ll celebrate your HUGE ratings for a game you were slaughtered in.

Congrats big guy.

That is absolutely untrue, cocksucker, but it’s hilarious to see some pauper from the Kentucky boonies trying to save face by pretending to understand how this works in the face of myriad evidence to the contrary.

The fact is - Tennessee is an elite brand in college football. Very few fanbases could put up with the garbage we have over 20 years and still get 100k to a game. We are a sleeping giant with our support and resources - just need the right people in place to run it. I hope we get a taste of our glory days again - it would be good for not only The SEC to balance the competition - but also good for college football in general.

that shredding couldn't keep them within 28 points.

And if you call that a shredding, what do you call what Young did to them?

This is laughable.

Average Television Viewership for SEC Rivalries (2013-2021):

10.716 million- Alabama vs. Auburn
10.199 million- Alabama vs. LSU
6.848 million- Alabama vs. Texas A&M
5.616 million- Georgia vs. Florida
4.982 million- Georgia vs. Auburn
4.692 million- Alabama vs. Tennessee
4.424 million- Auburn vs. LSU

**Regular season games only

You are the 4th largest "money maker" out of just Alabama's rivals. And The Cocktail Party and the DSOR are also bigger draws.

To be fair, how many Bama/Vol games have been on CBS during that span?

Correct. Anytime any school sneaks into one of the most-watched games of the season is a result of just playing Bama.

People tune in to watch Alabama, not because it's your team.

Alabama is the only national brand in the SEC.
