Or an nba, nhl, mlb, etc. It would be supported. As big of sports fans as you will find are in Alabama. You would have two fanatic fan bases come together to pull for the same team on Sunday. There might not be huge markets for it it but the support would be there.

Alabama is too poor for an NFL team, end of story.

I realize they would probably get support, but what city in Alabama is worthy of having a pro team? You have to have a major city, which Alabama doesn’t really have.

I haven’t looked it up but I would venture to say it’s not much poorer than Louisiana.

Huntsville. It’s not quite there yet, but it’s well on its way.

Right but Louisiana has New Orleans which, say what you want about it, was a city with a population well over a million pre Katrina. Alabama does not have a city that size.

Metro Birmingham has over a million in population. NO has a franchise as part of the tourist industry.

I know. I grew up in north Alabama. Two hours from Nashville and attended a lot of Titan games, but it still doesn’t feel the same when the team isn’t from your state. I just can’t become a true fan of them. I pull for them come playoff time, but I can’t bring myself to follow them every week.

I think that is bullshite, but some people do say it

I would say that the dumpster up the street from my house has a lot of similarities.

We drive to Nashville to see the Titans. Actually, to see good teams come play the Titans. Beats the hell out of going to that dumphole Birmingham for a game.
Atlanta fans have to drive almost as far to see the Falcons. Time it takes them to drive downtown from the suburbs is idiotic.

I actually don’t think that is the case. I hear of way more titans and saints fans rather than falcons. There are a lot of Braves fans though.
