Everyone knows how nice and awesome of an experience it is or would be to watch a very good auburn squad in an awesome arena. Except UGA fans, who just won the cfb ‘ship, and know they have a shite bball squad so they could care less about buying tix to see them in person and travel, etc so auburn is hoping they can find the leftover auburn fans that wouldnt mind paying a little more than normally bc the quality this year is worth more than it usually is. If they can sell half of those remaining tickets at that price then that’s a win. And right before game time they can sell the left over tix for dirt cheap and won’t have to stress or worry about having to sell them all
Idk maybe I’m wrong but it made sense in my head…

It's a Wednesday night game at 6 PM. We're never going to draw 15,400 to a Wednesday night game at 6 PM unless the opponent supplies 1K (Kentucky). Ever.
Again, if our gym held 8,500, the game Wednesday night would be sold out and you wouldn't be able to get in for less than $60-75. Just take a look at StubHub and see how many tickets are $5 and where they are, and then realize what it would look like if you removed the 6,000 worst seats.
This isn't rocket science.
If bama had a 9,100 seat arena the lowest tickets would still be south of $50.

They'd be about $50-60, probably, and we'd have a sold out arena. It'd be $75-100 for Saturday's game with Missouri (currently $20) and $125-150 for the Baylor/Kentucky games (currently $45 & 50). Which would be totally fine and healthy for a basketball program.
Still not sure what your point is. Alabama sells out our arena for weekend SEC games, has 12K or so for most mid-week SEC games (more depending on time and opponent). We've done that for 30+ years anytime we are even remotely good. If our arena sat 9,100 we'd have 90-100% butts in seats for almost every game of the season, and all of the SEC games without question.
Auburn is extremely excited about their very good basketball team right now and plays in one of the smaller gyms in major college basketball. Acting like Alabama has no basketball fans is dumb.

My Auburn friends have talked trash about AU vs Bama ticket sales multiple times in the last month. Weird flex.

$5 against a top 15 LSU team is pitiful now matter how you spin it.

Tues 1/18 - Arkansas vs South Carolina ($6)
Wed 1/19 - Florida vs Miss St ($6)
Wed 1/26 - Tennessee vs Florida ($7)
Wed 1/26 - LSU vs Texas A&M ($6)
Tues 2/8 - Texas A&M vs LSU ($6)
Maybe, just maybe, when your gym seats 13,000+ and you have a mid-week game, it's difficult to have 17,500 people clamoring to get in the door. Even if you are playing one of the other NCAA Tournament level SEC teams.
