I don't think it's that as much as it is the schools have milked that cash cow dry.
I watch the games from my house. frick all of the headache that comes with going to a game. Been there and done that

For all the wins and championships that bama has won its down right shameful that the bama fans wont show up to games.
I guess all that winning gets boring at times

It’s because of their weak arse schedules.
Even bama fans don’t want to watch that crap.

Needs more boxes and less cheap seats....
Improving the home schedule would help.....like a LOT

I think they'll try to do the same at Coleman Coliseum
Whoever signs off on any project, other than tearing down that dump should be fired. Bama needs a new basketball arena more than anyone in the SEC IMO.

Let's see some rewards from the new baseball stadium before a new basketball arena

Seats have to be widened. Too narrow for today's fat arse fan base.
It's too bad Tennessee hasn't changed their seat size since the middle of the Great Depression.

They could probably keep the capacity near 100k by removing the chairbacks in the West upper deck and going to all bleacher seating like the east.

Its too much of a hassle to go to games...and there are about 15k seats too many. Even the big games no longer fill up the stadium.

We all got surveys asking what we wanted and the overwhleming response was make things nicer, more tech friendly and more like new NFL stadiums. And play more good home and homes.
Byrne is doing both those things. No complaints here.

It will not be just Alabama. A lot of places are looking at the smaller but nicer model. Let's face it. College Football is on a downturn. Millenials just aren't as interested in football, much less going to a game and staying for the entire thing. HDTV has made the couch a real competitor to being at the game.

i agree bama fans need to step it up
All fans. Although ticket prices need to drop so the average fan can come to games.

I think that's the way to go. I think the days of regularly filling-up 100k+ stadiums is waning.

Sorry for wanting to have a nice stadium.

And there it is. If ticket prices dropped, the universities would make about the same amount due to the priced out fans coming to fill the stadium. I know it is hard to drive from central Florida to T'town and back due to gas prices, let alone have to buy a ticket (or two, three or four.) I do not mind the drive (about 10 hours one way.)

It’s kind of sad bc the crowd does have an influence in big games a lot of the time.
But I’m with the watch at home crowd these days too. Best seat in the house. It’s gotten too expensive to go to 3-4 games every year like I used to. The donations required to get season tickets keep going up, so that makes the price go up for a guy like me who buys them outside the stadium before the game. People do stay home bc of that. Gotta pay those coaches salaries somehow I guess.

I'm only 2 hours away but the damn hotels are what kill me. They triple the rates and require a 2 night minimum. I am coaching most Saturday mornings, so I hate wasting $200 on a hotel I can't use.
That being said, I'm totally happy watching from home where I'm close to my refrigerator and toilet. When I do try to go to a game, I usually got to a HC type game.

It was a lot easier to go to home AND away games for me 7-10 years ago when I was in college and had friends and siblings at those schools so I could crash at their place. That’s another thing that stops me any more, I don’t want to get buzzed at tailgate, sober up during to the game and feel terrible, and then drive 2 hours home hoping I’m not going to get pulled over and get a DUI for some bs when I’m not even drunk.
