Alabama linebacker Ale Kaho has entered the NCAA transfer portal, BamaOnLine has learned.

Kaho played in 40 games over the last three seasons, including 12 in the Crimson Tide's 2020 campaign. He recorded two tackles this past season, and for his career, the Reno, Nev., native registered 33 tackles, three blocked kicks and returned a blocked kick for a touchdown. Kaho spent the last three years as a backup at linebacker but was a key special teams player.

With Dylan Moses turning pro, there is an opening in the starting lineup, but there figures to be plenty of competition for the vacancy opposite Christian Harris among returning players.

A 5-star recruit in the 2018 recruiting cycle, Kaho transferred to UA after briefly beginning his college career at Washington. He was the top inside linebacker in 2018, per 247Sports.

Six Alabama players have entered the transfer portal either during the 2020 season or this offseason in Kaho, defensive lineman Ishmael Sopsher, linebacker Kevin Harris, defensive back Eddie Smith, placekicker Joseph Bulovas and linebacker Ben Davis.

Sopsher transferred to USC, Harris transferred to Georgia Tech, Smith transferred to Illinois, and Bulvoas transferred to Vanderbilt. Davis and now Kaho have yet to announce a transfer destination.

Processed to balance the 85 man limit come this Fall.

j/k, good luck to the young man. I am a big fan, and I hate to lose him.

That would make at least some sense if he wasn't a 5-star when he went to Washington first.

I'm sure there are other threads about that too.

Truly amazing what Saban is able to do with all those overrated scrubs. What a guy!

No kidding. 13 undefeated seasons in a row speaks for itself.

Big miss on special teams. I thought he would compete for playing time next year, but I didn't realize he's already been here 3 years.

I'm guessing he's been passed up by younger guys. Would have been good for depth and special teams, but can't blame him.

I figured he was never going to see the field on defense, as a starter at least, when they started 2 true freshmen (one who was woefully bad and may never see the field again himself) over Kaho after the 2 starting ILBs went down in the 2019 offseason.

Guy made a lot of impact on special teams but this was likely mutual since the team needed room for To'oto'o from the portal and he has nearly zero chance to see the field other than a jumbo package fullback and special teams.

He had time and chances and never really made it. Played a big role in special teams though.

Nothing against him, but I think he may have reached his max potential in high school.

Come to South Carolina, you're guaranteed to start at any position you want. And I mean any, we won't win. But you'll def play.
