Listen, I'm not even a huge Jimbo fan (he needs to give up playcalling IMO) but even I can recognize that year 4 for Jimbo and year 4 for Sumlin have fairly different outcomes.
Jimbo is putting together a top 5 class w/a 5 star QB coming in and a team that clearly has bought in.
Sumlin on the other hand had two 5 star NFL QBs (one a major legacy and eventual Heisman winner) transfer out in the week before the bowl game and had so much inner team turmoil that one of those QBs had all their shite thrown from the locker room onto the curb by his teammates.

Every time I try to have actual football discussion I get met with nothing but "lol, you lost" "75 million dollars" "jizz jars" "gay milk men" "nah, I like girls" "Texas 8-4" or more recently reposts of nonsese from ShaggyBevo.
How civil of a discourse do you really expect that to elicit?
I do wish we could have more real football discussion on this board, but as things are, I simply do not believe it's possible.

Yeah, a lot of our fans are obnoxious as hell. This site doesn’t really cultivate civility - I try not to engage but sometimes it’s damn near impossible not to throw a jab in every once in a while. I still try to remain civil in most of my posts, though. I actually think the most effective trolls are civil in at least 75% of their posts — it makes the troll post land harder and seem much more piercing. Unfortunately, even trolling has lost its art form here, and this site has become little more than a haven for childish squabbles.

I get that this site is what it is, but you gotta step back a minute and see the big picture here before you go blaming A&M posters for the lack of quality discussion. Nobody takes more mindless shite on this site than us, and for the most part most of us take it pretty well in stride.

If you’re looking for a real place to talk football civilly, the best site I found was Rivals.com College Football Soundoff forum. You have to register but it’s free. I was on that site for several years, but it’s addictive and I found I was spending way too much time on it at the expense of my family. The users on that site are great, and trolls are more the exception than the rule unlike this place.
