Aggies not trolling honest question

Are you still as upbeat about Jimbo Fisher? The cold fact is he finished 7-5, same record as Sumlin’s last season. You can spin it both ways. Positively A&M has showed more physicality and is defensively playing better; the schedule was also ridiculous. Negatively, Fisher was trending downwards at FSU and some of the same issues are coming up at A&M. Also 43 point conference losses are just bad and inexcusable. Louisville also did it to him.
So what is it?

To be fair, their schedule was the opposite of Alabamas.

Good point. I mean the only bad loss they had was against Alabama. That’s a game they should have expected to win this year.

Any body can recruit in the state of Texas.
We will see how he handles the offseason, I am betting more of the same. At the end of the day if he does not give up the reins as the OC, he is going to suffer.
I bet he mails it in and loses the team as they will tire of his attitude.

Not on this thread. It's an interesting question. Mixed signs on how to read that 7-5.

Inherited a shite roster, especially in OL. Historically bad schedule. One big blowout to team likely to win Natty with a record setting QB.
I don’t like the blind stubbornness and lack of development with Mond, and play calling has been idiotic at times.
That said, I never expected this year to be good. Next year better show huge improvement, but OL is probably the hardest position to turn around in a short time.

They lost to #1, #3, #4, #9 and #11. I get that you want to compete at that level, but I think A&M was definitely a top 25 team, but that schedule was brutal.

See the post above.
Loses to 1, 3, 4, 9, 11.

Next year their schedule is just like Alabama's. That's a good season to get overconfident in, then lose to Auburn, Bama, and LSU again. Still, a 9 win season is pretty good.

lack of development with Mond,
This is the key statement. Jimbo's forte has always been his ability to develop qb's. And the fact that Mond is playing the way he is in his second year as the starter under Jimbo is cause for pretty big concern.

You just got stuck with an interesting schedule. All losses from teams with a winning record. All wins from teams with a losing record.

Even this I take with a grain of salt, though. Sometimes, a player just can’t be brought up. His problem, especially, seems to be between the ears. He’s just too damn timid. He can make the throws.
Maybe that can be overcome, maybe it can’t. Not his guy, though. For that matter, most of the offensive roster was recruited for an almost diametrically different offense.
Once he has mostly his recruits, no excuses.

Yeah, every team with a winning record on the schedule was in the top 10, so....go figure.
It was feast or famine. Half shitty teams and half top 10, although many of the "shitty" teams also played a similar top-heavy schedule, giving them fewer opportunities for a winning record.

In all fairness, A1abama did beat 3 programs with winning records, Southern Miss 7-5, Tennessee 7-5, and A$M 7-5. And Southern Miss and Tennessee actually have winning conference records!
The 7 and a Half Million Dollar Man couldn’t rebuild them. He didn’t make them faster...stronger!
Now if Jimbo could replace LSU, A1abama, and Auburn with Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and Missouri he would only have a dumpster smolder instead of a dumpster fire!

Their schedule was brutal. It's not good that they lost all 5 of their tough games and nearly got embarrassed by Arkansas. They did play Auburn and Georgia close though.
Next year's schedule looks much better. They will probably be 9-1 or 10-0 going into the final stretch against Alabama and LSU. They're going to make for a nice November resume builder!

Please state which team with a winning record on A&M's schedule that Aggy should have beat.

Yes but Mond didn't help matters claiming he was the best QB in the SEC before the season started.
Jury still out on Jimbo, wait till he gets a QB he recruits to start at A&M.
