You think Moore will be a top 2 pick this year?

I've seen no fewer than four "name" draft guys/sites pick Moore to go in the top 2, including the most famous of them all.

And Kiper gets a bad rap because he's annoying, but according to an analysis done in 2011 he ranked 2nd over the past ten years among heralded draft guys/sites in accuracy.

3/5 of a dominant OL back with an All American left tackle = trouble on the OL?

Enjoyable thread, really. I think our O-line will be better than fine, though Joeckel will obviously be missed. Like others I'm a bit more concerned with our D. New guys/new starters are going to have to step up.

But since this was started by an LSU fan, I say the key is at the very top. We have Kevin Damn Sumlin, you have Les-throw-the-game-away-in-the-last-2-minutes-Miles. I like Miles for a lot of reasons, but am really glad he's not at A&M.

Les Miles = the worst college coach in history but still managed to beat A&M and shut Johnny down.

Mike Matthews will struggle next season. You can take that to the bank.

LSU folks should be 100X more worried about replacing Mingo and Montgomery than Aggies should worry about replacing Joekel. How often are you able to replace a Top 5 Draft Pick with a Top 15 Draft Pick (and that Top 15 could well be Top 5 after he shows he can play LT like he did all his life before coming to A&M)?

A&M has concerns on defense but it is mainly replacing experience with better talent. That still creates vulnerabilities but the young guys A&M is rolling out are primarily 4* talents and we have lots of them so it isn't dependent on one or two guys. Does LSU have better overall defensive talent? Sure, but the gap isn't as wide as it used to be and LSU is replacing a lot more people.

So how do the Aggies plan to replace over half of the starters on defense?

hence why Oline is least of our concerns.

I wouldn't say that at all... until 2 minutes remain on the clock. And then yes, he's the absolute worst. You may commence worrying about close games right now.

Yes you did, and congrats for that. LSU did it mostly because of great players you're losing and an A&M new coach and new A&M QB.

Don't mistake this for a prediction. I have no idea how A&M will do at Tiger Stadium with teenage LSU fans throwing whiskey bottles at everybody. It may actually bother them.

Who will be the two new starters along the aggie O-line? What year were they parade all americans?

The second question is irrelevant, as one of our returning starters, Jarvis Harrison (#51 LG), was a 2-star recruit who beat out a 4-star recruit 2 years senior to him (#77 Shep Klinke)

As for the first question, the line will look like this:

LT: Jake Matthews (SR), Nathan Gutekunst (RS-SO)
LG: Jarvis Harrison (RS-JR), Kimo Tipoti (RS-FR)
C: Mike Matthews (SO), Ben Compton (JR)
RG: Ben Compton (JR) OR Germain Ifedi (RS-FR)
RT: Cedric Ogbuehi (RS-JR), Joseph Cheek (RS-SO)

Returning starters: Matthews, Harrison, Ogbuehi
4-star linemen: Matthews x2, Ogbuehi, Cheek
3-star linemen: Gutekunst, Compton, Ifedi, Tipoti
2-star lineman: Harrison

As for replacing the defense, the biggest pain will be at linebacker, where we won't be that deep even with all the players we're bringing in.

Weakside End: Brandon Alexander (RS-SO) OR Julien Obioha (SO)

Defensive Tackle: Kirby Ennis (RS-SR), Justin Manning (FR)

Nose Tackle: Polo Manukainu (RS-FR), Isaiah Golden (FR)

Strongside End: Alonzo Williams (SO), Gavin Stansbury (RS-JR)

Weakside Linebacker: Steven Jenkins (SR), Brett Wade (FR)

Middle Linebacker: Donnie Baggs (JR), Reggie Chevis (FR)

Strongside Linebacker: Tommy Sanders (JR), Tyrone Taylor (RS-FR)

Cornerback: Deshazor Everett (JR), Alex Sezer (FR)

Cornerback: DeVante Harris (SO), Tramaine Jacobs (SR)

Free Safety: Kenneth Marshall (RS-FR), Kameron Miles (FR)

Strong Safety: Howard Matthews (JR), Toney Hurd (SR)

Jake Matthews will slide from RT to LT. I am not concerned about LT.

Define struggle. He won't be the same YET as a 4 year starter in Patrick Lewis, but he is very talented (shite, comes from the Matthews family). He got some PT this year because he is the clear cut starter for next year. Thats why Sumlin didn't redshirt.

Why is the second question irrelevant?

Some aggie (dark sleeve?) posted in another thread how aggie O-line would just plug in two parade all americans into vacant spots. Meaning aggs had all american players waiting in the wings. Trying to impress I guess?

aggie fans piling on LSU about it's young inexperienced "D" next year.

Unlike the two deep aggie defense you posted LSU won't have a freshman starter and probally not even a single freshman in the two deep. Maybe one of those 5*s at DE or DB that tigers are bringing in might crack the two deep.

Holy shite. Your qb had the best season , EVER, as a SEC qb AND YOU FINISHED 3rd IN THE WEST.

You should be worrying about that shite defense that lost its best players along with your oline and LACK of a proven depth at rb
And wr.

Once again, answering a question in a thread started by an LSU fan about our O-line.
I can see you needed to get all of that off of your chest though.

LACK of a proven depth at rb

Starting RB comes back (Malena)
2nd string RB comes back (Williams)
2 RB transfers that were ineligible this past season (Williams, Carson) are back

And wr.

Mike Evans (1,000 yard receiver) is back
Kennedy (300 yards, 2 TD) is back
Williams (150 yards, 2 TD) is back

Besides, our top receiver this past season was a FRESHMAN (Evans). Not worried about "proven WR depth" at this point.

You clearly aren't familiar with LSU. Every year since 09 we have replaced our best defensive players from the following year. First it was PP, Nevis, and KS, then Mo , Brockers and TM.

Struggle as in he can't block anyone one on one. If the defense blitzes up the middle on passing downs then we are fricked.
