Heck yeah.
We’ve never claimed to want the alternative.
LSU folks are the ones who enjoy cuddling up to the horns on the reg.

Huh? When have we ever cuddled up to Texas? Have you seen the threads about Texas on Tiger Rant?

No LSU fans I've ever known. Especially not since UT begged Notre Dame to end their self-imposed bowl ban so Texas wouldn't have to play LSU in the '70 Cotton Bowl.

I can't believe I'm going to defend Texas here but get outta here with that garbage.

Notre Dame was ranked higher than LSU and the Cotton getting them for their first bowl in nearly 50 years was a major coup for ratings and ticket sales.

LSU sat home that bowl season b/c they thought they deserved to be in January 1 bowl instead of games like the Peach, Bluebonnet, or Tangerine. They essentially pulled a La Tech 40 years before La Tech made the move infamous.

The team that should have been playing Texas was #2 Penn State but b/c of segregation issues PSU players voted to go to the Orange Bowl instead.

They existed. They were created by a poster known as “Old,” and were downvoted to hell.

I suspect Old has been banned for trolling the board.

The threads existed, but LSU fans never supported their existence.

That was generally the case for 50 years. Why didn't that happen in 1969? Don't you think any other bowl would've liked to get ND any time before 1970?

The last time Texas played LSU in the Cotton Bowl, 1963, #7, 8-1-1 LSU shut out #4, 9-0-1 Texas, 13-0.

Texas lobbied (paid) ND hard (cash).

Problem with that is that Texas was already awarded the NC.

Didn't matter who they played except with who was a bigger name.
That was ND in 1969

There was only one team in America sexy enough to entice Notre Dame to break its self-imposed bowl ban, and that was TEXAS. Any other team would've been beneath the Fighting Irish and not worth it.

Also, the Cotton Bowl was the centerpiece bowl game on CBS and it was the 100th anniversary of college football. It was perfect.

It was so perfect that the same two teams played again in the next Cotton Bowl. Notre Dame played in several Cotton Bowls.

LSU is a second-rate program in a third-rate state.

Elvis Presley even wanted to meet James Street after the 1969 Texas/Arkansas game.

That game put Texas on another level that even ND was insecure about their place

Meh, LSU beat Notre Dame 28-8 the next year.

Come to think if it, 14th ranked, 7-3 LSU upset #2, undefeated Arkansas in the '66 Cotton Bowl, 14-7. No wonder they didn't want to see LSU in Dallas again.

We haven’t.

The Rant’s variety of Aggie just wants to project his Bama Dickride on LSU-to-Horns so they don’t look so desperately ghey.

They’ve been embarrassed about it enough by now that it’s time to do a “hey! Look over there!”
