He finished 9-4 with a Gator Bowl win.

Four years later, he is going into the Gator Bowl at 8-4.

He really turn that program around...

Is this what schools that get their coaches poached tell themselves to feel better?

I'm no A&m fan, but this isn't a good look

It’s always a good look to shite on anything A&M. If we’re lucky, they’ll give up and quit this conference like they did the last one they were in.

Most coaches would be gone but it is A&M and he is owed 7million plus for another 6 years.
He's lucky NIL deals are a thing now they can finally use their money to buy top players. Lets be honest they were never going to win it all like the top programs in College football. Pulling in a top 3 recruiting class based on avg 4 loses a year while at A&M . Gee i wonder how he is doing it ?

Quick sports word to the wise ....

Some years your team finishes with a win or two fewer than it did the previous season(s).
It’s disappointing; but for a multitude of reasons, them’s the breaks.
If you hitch your sports enjoyment to that alone, you’ll be an unhappy bloke.

Jimbo & staff are doing a fine job at A&M.
It takes time, but I’m looking forward to the ROI.
We’re not lookin’ for him to go anywhere.

Good Lord.

What a circle jerk of a thread by a bunch of f'ing dorks.

This should be embarrassing, but I doubt it will be.

Keep trying guys. We aren't too worried about it. The honest truth is that you can make the same argument across a dozen DIV1 power programs and traditional blue chippers. So keep trying. We won't be the idiot program who overreacts and fires one of the few elite coaches for instant gratification. OU, LSU, USC, Florida, Texas, etc all would have jumped on Jimbo if they knew he would leave A&M.

So I laugh at this to be honest. Come back after 2023....if we have the same results then I will agree with you. Jimbo gets the same 7 years it took Dabo to start winning at Clemson.

0h, let's throw some Dawg in this. Kirby has had 6 years now. Still coming up short. But I give him until 2022...then fire the guy.

These threads are tiresome. A&M had a 1 loss team that won the Orange and finished #4 last year. This year was a disappointment because we were close but no cigar. Great win over Bama and 4 tough losses to teams we should have beaten. We just couldn't ever figure out the inconsistent QB play. So now we have a great recruiting class with probably the best QB in the country coming. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't but if you want to keep starting these "Aggy loves being 8-4 and will never win because Aggy" threads that's fine but it will bite you in the arse because you .

BTW, if you hadn't noticed OU is a complete dumpster fire right now with this Riley thing and you are headed towards a disaster with the SEC move. I'm going to laugh my arse off if we steal Dindy from you.

Why?

Dabo didn't have anywhere close to the same resources that Jimbo has.

Your program's recruiting has been gutted. Your former coach (revealed to be an extracurricular fkr....screwing assistant AD) has fled to the west coast...and you are one here bashing a program in another conference.

I would say "go frick yourself" but I will just laugh at you like everyone else.

There's only one program who fired a coach who never had fewer than 8 wins in a season. That program is Nebraska.

All the resources on the planet don’t mean a lick when intangibles come into play (e.g., injuries, humans officiating games, poise, the passion and fervency of a rivalry, timing).
All teams face ‘em.
So while aptitude is a huge part of winning, luck is a factor as well.

Just a heads up for future threads such as these: Texas A&M isn’t a program that fires coaches for abrupt, unreasoned grounds.
Regardless of sport—we never have been, nor will we ever be that university.
I’m not being glib; it’s just not our way.
That reality drives some Ags crazy; it sits soundly with others.

We have a great team and some solid players headed to CSTX.
We’ll see how it all unfolds.

The anti-A&M circle jerk on this LSU website is honest to God insufferable sometimes. Posts like this are too stupid for words.

Bashing A&M for hiring Jimbo is silly.

If you want to bash A&M, attack them for leaving the Big 12. They might even have a national title by now if they had stayed in the Big 12. They would certainly have a better chance moving forward.

When A&M left the Big 12, they told their fans and students that playing more compelling games on Saturdays in October and November was more important than playing for national titles.
