Adam Gase was a graduate assistant under Nick Saban at LSU and first connected with Saban in the 90s when the former Jets coach was a student at Michigan State.

I hope they hire Adam Gase. Peyton Manning ain't walking through that door.

While Gase was on Saban’s staff at LSU back in the early 2000s, he got suspended from playing in the next week’s basketball game after he got a little physical with fellow assistant Derek Dooley.

quote:

“He got mad at me one time because he thought I was getting too competitive,” he said. “His team was cheating, as always. Me and (Derek) Dooley got into it a little bit and it started getting physical. I was 22 or 23 at the time, so I was trying to get physical with some of the older guys. He made me sit for a week, so I technically got suspended for a week, because as he put it, I never let anybody have any fun and just got too competitive with everything.”

Weird choices. Neither run the type of offense we have seen at Alabama over the last five years or so. Between the two, I’d probably take Gase. There’s a lot out there about players hating O’Brien.

Bill O'Brien single handily destroyed the Houston Texans.

Gase may be the only worst choice than BoB. Holy shite.

It's showing me that Saban is starting to lose his edge a little bit. Terrible choices.

Can you imagine being told this by Nick Saban

quote:

"I never let anybody have any fun and just got too competitive with everything.”

How big of an a-hole do you have to be to have Nick Saban tell you to chill out on the competitiveness because nobody is having fun

Just to get it out of the way. Looks like Bama's short list for OC consist of 2 guys with head coaching experience. I mean Sark was clearly next in line and now he is gone.

Got damn, not sure you want BoB in charge of any personnel decisions ever.

Sounds similar to consensus opinions when Lane Kiffin and Steve Sarkisian were hired.

These are the only guys we know about. The list of candidates would probably make a pandemic line look short.

I do not. But I wanted to see how long it would take somebody to read my post and start a spinoff thread. About 3 minutes.

No other CFB program can pull College and NFL Head coaches for their staff like Alabama.
It's like Alabama is universally seen as another level in the entire industry.
Some programs get rejected for their HC spot while Bama is fielding calls from Head Coaches. Much like recruiting, Alabama is just selecting coaches at this point.

Terrible choices.

Said about...

Lane Kiffin circa 2014

Steve Sarkisian circa 2019

Saban has earned the right to be unquestioned.

Circa 2014 with Kiffin, 2017 with Daboll, 2018 with locksley, and 2019 with Sarkisian.
