or because he wife doesn't want to move to a particular area. Rita Rodriquez comes to mind.

So yeah. Once in a blue moon a coach might stay somewhere or not go to a particular place because what his wife wants, but most times that's just b.s. because this coach will be making xxx millions of dollars. I don't think I've met a woman that would turn down that kind of money, and besides, if I'm that coach and I can make xxx millions of dollars and my wife won't move I'd let her stay in the fine home we've been living in, buy me another fine home at my new location, and have me a very fine lady to spend some time with when it suited me. Win all around.

I was about to say...

Wasn't Saban's wife unhappy in Miami as well?

I have heard she didn't like it but apparently neither did Saban. He's a wealthy man, and he has people skills. Could be a very successful CEO of about any business, but I think deep down he's still a little bit of that rural West Virginia boy, just thankfully located a little south of that right now.

If I were already making millions, the main reason I would move would actually be to live in better place instead of adding a few more millions.

Remember when LSU was looking for a DC last year? Look what happened when he visited the area and then it was mention something about the location wasn't suitable for his kids and his wife. That is true for any one who is looking for a job or get a promotion elsewhere and the location is bad due to like poor education system and/or area isn't safe for wife and/or kids. That is why some HCs do not want to move his family into a bad area for more money.

Mike Price

From the interviews I've seen it was more that she and Nick were both unhappy with the NFL game rather than the city. She liked being involved with the kids more.

They both loved the Dolphins' owner, which was the biggest factor they gave in making the decision to leave a hard one.

Do you really think that many (if any at all) P5 head coaches and coordinators send their kids to public schools?

James Coley was Jimbo's first choice for OC when he went to AnM, he declined the millions and stayed on as UGA's TE coach (before going on to be a mediocre OC at UGA). The reason given was his family loved Athens so much and didn't much care for College Station. Making $500k in Athens is better than making $1.2m in College Station.

True story.

I bet Will Muschamp has a ton of phone calls for higher paying positions than what he's doing in Athens right now, but he's staying due to family ties- his son is on the team and it's a great place to live (and South Carolina is still paying him millions. (hell, Florida might still be paying him too ))

It is true for most people in general. There was something going on with that and one was rumored to be about the location and wife wasn't happy with the area. I am posting what I remembered back then when that came out.

Mike Riley comes to mind. Wife would not leave the west to come to Alabama. But Lincoln Nebraska was okay. Anyone know this guy's...this wife's whereabouts lately?

Know how I know you’re not married. No one should ever put there spouse ina miserable situation for money or any other reason. People stay at lesser paying jobs all the time for family reasons.
