I'd rather play the 6 toughest SEC teams + AU and UT every year.

What in the 70's? Yeah no other school has had anything to do with the SEC being the caliber it is today, today!

I disagree completely. Every team in the SEC should want equity when it comes to scheduling. You should make it to Atlanta based on merit, not because of scheduling. LSU isn't "scared" to play UF; it's not equitable for LSU to play an additional top 10 SEC East team, and then be penalized in the SEC West standings should we lose it. Doesn't compute.

It isn't possible with 14 teams. However, the current cross divisional games make it pretty fair over the long term given the relative strenght of the opponents that are matched up.

Well, until everyone plays everyone else twice (home and away) each year, this isn't going to happen.

They won't be a top 10 team every year you short sighted, whiny little bitch.

Sorry, got mad for a second.

In the 30s, 40s, 60s, 70s, and part of the 90s.

It's ok, dude. I understand thinking reasoned and logically is a hard concept for you.

I like the way the SEC does it better than how the B1G is going to start doing it with parody scheduling. It seems the "better" teams will play the better teams more often. What a way to potentially screw your best teams out of a chance to win more games and go to the playoffs

I think you can strive for equity, even if it doesn't work out all the time

I guess he wants the SEC to wait to set the schedules until after the preseason polls come out.

That is how the SEC is set up. It just evens out over the long term rather than trying to react annually based on current trends. LSU fans are so caught up in the last few years (especially the rematch) that they miss the big picture and ignore the fact of the cyclical nature of college football.

Instead of doing away with cross division rivals, do what Spurrier said and just make your division games count toward SEC standings. That way you can preserve your LSU-UF, AU-UGA, and Bama-UT games, but a team isn't penalized in the SEC West for a loss to an SEC East opponent. That, to me, seems like the easiest fix.

but basically what I'm trying to say nicely is that your analysis is shite.

I didn't give my analysis. Only answered the quoted question and posted some historical data.

What I don't understand is if Bama, UGA, UT, AU are all so tough, why cant they just schedule their "rivalry" games as non-conference?

Because we don't have to.

What I don't understand is why a team as accomplished and good as LSU is scared of UF. I love playing UF. I would take them as a second permanent cross divisional game if given the opportunity. You pussies take Mizzou and UK every and enjoy your boring season.

gonna be so funny to see Bammer's response to the whole rivalry once UT pops an L on the them in the future

Kinda like the response you would get if you asked UT fans about the game currently. It's called a rivalry, good or bad it is still a rivalry. I don't see UT fans clamoring to end the series although they are currently getting destroyed every year by Bama.

Why do the duck the best competition, other than their 10-20 record vs Bama in those games.

LSU has played UT(#2 SEC team)...

Really? That's not how LINK ]these guys see it.

Hmmm, could it be that UT was ducking LSU?

LSU #7, UT #19

I'm wondering why Alabama was avoiding scheduling Johnny Vaught's Rebels in the 50s.

...oh yeah, they were too busy going 2-4-3 against their traditional rival, "Vandy".

There are options to make it better. That's what LSU wants to explore.

No. Just have division games count towards division standings. Makes sense, no?

Check out UF's rankings since 1992. They will be a perennial power with few exceptions.

I'd love to have UT, UF, and UGA all be our permanent East opponents.

I am not scared in the least. But how cany anyone with any brain function not realize the best thing is for no permanents, but allow teams to schedule each other as non-conference games. It happens all the time
