What's his record in the SEC? You're missing the point.

Agreed although it will be very interesting to see how he handles a season without Lattimore

how vastly improved they were by the end of last season was why I put him up there.
they lost 3 of 4 and barely made a bowl game.

What? The Big 12 and PAC 12 and arguably the ACC were better conferences this year.

PAC 12 and Big 12 > Big 10.

Padded against the dregs of the B1G. He was sub .500 against teams in that conference not named Indiana, Northwestern, Minnesota and Purdue.

I think he will do fine. He has Davis now, and Davis is going to be pretty good. Plus Spurrier is a helluva coach, unfortunately

Franklin has turned Vandy around
I'm not denying that Franklin is a good coach, but I don't see how that makes him a better coach than someone who has multiple BCS bowls under their belt
quote:
Muschamp had Florida one loss away from the title
Awesome, same thing happened to Bret in 2010
quote:
Sumlin beat Bama
Oh wow, one 11 win season
quote:
Freeze got a winning season of out Ole Miss
Yet again, that doesn't trump multiple BCS bowls

Let's not put a coach who hasn't coached in the SEC ahead of these guys yet.
Actually based on facts we can

Freeze still has to prove that he isn't a one hit wonder. But I can easily see Freeze past him after another decent season. And 7-6 isn't exactly setting the world on fire.

This.

And they were 0-8 in the SEC the year before getting mercy kneed with 5 minutes to go. He deserves credit for that turn-around

I double checked and it was Purdue not Illinois as the 4th. He was 23-1 against them and under .500 against the rest of the B1G.

I'm not saying he's a bad coach, but the SEC is a big step up from the Big-10. It will be interesting to see how well he does. Plus Alex Collins has instantly became my favorite Non-uga player

No I understand what you're saying perfectly
Listen, the SEC is obviously the best conference. But one good season in it doesn't even come close to being a better accomplishment than winning another power conference 3 times in a row
I know, you're going to say "but he hasn't coached a game in the SEC". Doesn't matter, you can still rank him against other SEC coaches based on his accomplishments which far succeed the coaches I listed

Wow that's crazy. You mean to tell me Bielema was sub .500 against the best teams in the Big 10? Damn.
While you're at it, could you post Miles' record against the best teams in the Big 12 while he was at OSU? Thanks in advance.

such a regurgitated argument
He still won the conference 3 times in a row. That's a big accomplishment no matter how you look at it

The SEC is also a big step up from Conference USA but Sumlin seems to be doing ok.

I mean if he was such a great coach shouldn't he have done a little better? I'm not talking about the top two teams, I'm talking about the top SIX. That's a lot.

Why would I do that?
FTR I don't think Miles would do well at Arkansas either.
LSU >>>>> Arky
