Alabama was being ridiculed nationally because "everybody had turned down Bama" and "who would want to go there?"

That was the coaching search that landed Nick Saban.

The difference here is thier fan base turned down the candidate that didn't turn them down.

Even then-Bama would've turned Schiano down and they'd've thrown a brick through Mal's office window for good measure.

The difference is our AD is a puppet for the guy who owns the Cleveland Browns.

There are MANY differences here. I'm just saying that it's possible that things turn out much better than they look right now.

I distinctly remember how disappointed I felt when Rich Rodriguez changed his mind about coming to Bama, and how people were laughing at our program and saying we'd never get a great coach again...

The family (of which the Browns owner is a member) constitutes the universities largest donors and his brother is the Governor.

Literally the only hopes for the program at this moment are:

a) Jimmy comes to his senses
b) Jimmy gets arrested (like, today)
c) Bill's (governor) desires to become University President some day make him intervene on Tennessee's behalf

When the real abortion of a coaching search resulted in Mike Price, UA fans had a similar social reaction.

But, without the power of today's social media platforms to truly affect it, the unhappy contingent got together and threw hookers/strippers at the problem. Price then made himself the bad guy and an easy hire-fire before coaching a game coach. That gave UA their own Tee Martin in Shula who did well enough all considering, so there is hope.

Today's e-world is nice, but it lacks the "personal touch" of true hands-on plotting, narrative manipulation, and backhanded agenda setting.

What if Schiano would have been their Saban and with the help of Clay Travis they ruined a dynasty?
-turned a program around
-sputtered in the NFL
-good recruiter
-experience with top coaches...

There hasn’t been any movement to change anything as far as I can tell. They’re just going to let his idiot rush the hire so nobody can move on them. Alabama kept trying until their guy said yes. Tennessee is going to overpay for a proven failure.

The fact that you think Bill would be any different than his brother is laughable

Nice isn’t the word I would use, it just encourages mob mentality and allows one to feel 10 foot tall and bulletproof behind their keyboard.

bullshite. That was the coaching search that got Dennis "fifth choice" Francione hired.

Saban was in negotiations with bama before Shula was fired.

Yeah, well, that's because Alabama can do better. You can't.
