A long time Mizzou fan's perspective on TX and OU

I think adding two of the highest profile programs in the country is great for the conference as long as it does not dilute revenues. I have no fear that they will able to pull the same shenanigans in the SEC as they have in the past.
We moved to this conference because of it's rules and equal treatment and I trust that to continue. As an added bonus it would be cool to play our old conference mates.

I think Arkansas would be one of the biggest winners in this move. They’d get a huge rival back, more Texas exposure, and Bama would be out the west most likely.

How about perspective from a fan of the school that’s played with them for over 100 years?
They would start cutting deals and holding closed door meetings, backstabbing anyone and everyone, and maneuvering to benefit themselves. They've single-handedly destroyed 2 conferences with their bullshite, and wouldn’t change their ways because they have new office space.

No, they can't do that because we are the SEC! lol. They have no idea of what they are dealing with, they think this is about football and Texas won't have enough votes to get their way. Ask Nebraska how that worked out for them. Remember when Nebraska was destroying everyone, winning NC's, and was a member of the AAU? Texas fixed that little problem even tough there were 8 teams from the Big 8 and 4 from the SWC in the Big 12. They bought off OU as their lackey and went about destroying everyone else. That was after they did the same in the SWC.
I'm sure it will be different now though that Texas has even more power and money than they did then. Texas isn't a joiner, they only want to be in charge and they will destroy anyone that gets in their way and do it in ways most SEC schools can't comprehend. Texas does not accept anyone as an equal, ever. Texas is an expert at stacking the deck in their favor and using their power to their advantage.

It will dilute revenue. Same revenue divided by 16 instead of 14

If you remove Texas & Oklahoma from the Big 12.. is there really a big difference between the Big 12 and the AAC?
The AAC is currently getting about $7 million per school, per year. There would be 8 teams left in the Big 12.. lets bump it to $10 milion.
8 teams x $10 million = $80 million a year
In 2019, the Big 12 distributed $38.5 million per school..
10 teams x $38.5 million = $385 million a year
So Texas & Oklahoma bring approximately $300 million per year to the table.
If the SEC is paying out $70 million each, then there would be $160 million left over once Texas & OU get their share, to divide among 16 teams..
So in this example, each SEC team would make $80 million a year instead of $70 million.
These numbers aren’t exact, but I think it might be pretty close.

The yearly beat downs were not fun, but we didn’t leave because of rules or treatment. MU was always a higher member of the big 12 due to the old big 8 ties. OU and MU specifically stuck together pretty well in conference matters. MU left only because they had no choice after the Big 10 offer fell through. Once that happened the sec was the only move left as it looked like OU and Texas were headed to PAC at that time. Once OU decided to stay they did reach out to MU in private but the SEC deal was already done.

Texas didn’t kill the SWC or Big 12.
The crappy teams in the SWC killed that league.. Rice, SMU, Houston.. it was all the same market and no one cared to watch those teams. The money just wasn’t there..
And the Big 12 today isn’t much different, although it is a lot better than the SWC. It is either join another conference or get left in the dust.. The Big 10 and SEC will have a huge money advantage pretty soon if a move isn’t made.
Oklahoma doesn’t have a problem with Texas.. nor vice versa.. because we are equals. In the SEC or Big 10, it would be a conference of equals.
You can blame Texas all you want, but they are fighting to stay relevant.. it isn’t their responsibility to keep the little guys in the same boat.

That's exactly what I was referring to. OU is your equal but nobody else in your conference is. You need the little guys to make up a conference. In the SEC the little guys get the same size slice of the pie. Your rise and fall on your own merit.
