Who ever is ranked at the top of the National Rankings will have never have the highest SOS, because no matter who they play, they will be ranked lower. Whoever is ranked at the bottom, no matter who they play will have a higher ranking and thus they will have a higher SOS. You take all these years Bama has dominated. They never had a strong SOS because everyone they played was ranked lower. If anything at all can be gained from the SOS ranking it will be teams in the middle of the ranking. JMHO.

You’re corroborating the “Alabama can’t play themselves” argument.

I don't think you understand how math works if you think it's impossible for the #1 team to have the #1 SOS. If everyone played a round robin schedule, then yes what you said would be true. But that's not what happenes.

Just commenting on the general laws governing how it works. That's all.

but those aren't the general laws of how it works.

Georgia can't play themselves.

My Auburn friend always complains about how easy Alabama's schedule is. I tell him that of course it is not as hard as everybody else because Alabama doesn't have to play Alabama.
