For football yes, but they sure are irrelevant in baseball..

Are they really though?
I mean Tennessee being over ranked early in the season isn't really new. They've lasted a little longer this year, but that's only because they pulled out a win over a Florida team with a new coach.
It would not be surprising for them to drop 4 or 5 games honestly.
I think this LSU game will tell a lot.

Because they are actually old enough to remember what it was like when Tennessee was competitive. Ask your mom.

That doesn’t answer the question, numb nuts. Why does one particular program being good benefit every other team in the league?
It’s a football conference, not an economy or fricking ecosystem.
First of all, if you believe that the SEC is not an ecosystem, then you are naive.
Second...Tennessee being good pulls talent out of ACC border states. Look at the rise of Correlation between the rise of Clemson and the fall of Tennessee.
Tennessee's 1998 team had 13 players who saw significant playing time from North or South Carolina.
Clemson's 2018 team had 2 starting WRs that went to HS less than 20 minutes from Neyland Stadium (both are in the NFL now). Hell...Trevor Lawrence grew up wanting to be the next Peyton Manning...the only reason he went to Clemson was because UT and Butch Jones sucked at the time.
Take Trevor Lawrence, Amari Rodgers and Tee Higgins off of the 2018 Clemson roster, and the SEC adds another championship. So, "numb nuts"...Tennessee being better would have made Clemson weaker.

You could say this about every team in every conference.
Plus, internet Tenn fans overall seem slightly more insufferable than most other fan bases.

No, you can not! Kentucky, Miss St Ole Miss and SC do not really have the draw of fans and heated rivalries, that Tenn does or Aub does or Fla and Ga.

I have no idea. Tennessee being strong doesn't help the SEC any more than if Vanderbilt suddenly began winning titles....or any other school, for that matter. What makes the SEC good is teams winning titles. And, I guess the more teams winning them the better.

But none of those add or subtract to the strength of the conference. I guess maybe the draw of fans, but if any of those began winning at a huge clip the conference would be just a strong.
I mean....I guess it can also depend on what is meant by making the conference a "much better conference." What does this phrase mean to you?

It's a foregone conclusion at this point.
I'm just going for the halftime show.
Maybe we'll play better next time we play them in 15 years.

Auburn is a very dangerous team with that mobile qb and nothing to lose.

Actually it's a business so the better they are the more revenue the conference brings in

Depends on the parameters. It could be argued that the 2000-2010 decade was the best time in overall competitiveness and parity of the conference, which laid the foundation for the conference stepping into its preeminent role and made way for the SEC network.
Tennessee was still strong for much of that period. UF, UGA, Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama and LSU all experienced success. 4 teams won national championships.
If the argument is that the last 10 years have been the best period for the conference because Alabama has won at an extremely disproportionate manner, I disagree.

They pretty much sell out their stadium any way, don't they?
And if they are losing other teas are winning and that will bring more fans to their stadiums, right? So, using your logic if Tennessee is down and other teams are up it makes the conference better from revenue.
