Out of curiosity....who do you think should have been the #1 pick?

I will answer for him.

Some big 12 offensive player with gaudy stats racked up against empty b12 defenses.

I actually took some time to watch the kid's tape and Georgia fans are correct that pass rushing wasn't what they were asking him to do.

They shifted him around quite a bit outside at the 5 tech on both sides of the Dline and inside as a 3 tech flanked by a speed rusher on his right shoulder on passing downs. Sometimes they dropped him into coverage like an OLB too so his sack count doesn't really tell the tale.

What I did notice is that the kid can definitely seal off an edge and you're not getting around his side. He's very long and pretty quick and versatile. Explodes off of blocks pretty well and has the speed to run down a RB in the flat and he does that. Has a knack for just appearing out of the scrum from nowhere and dropping the ball carrier so he has nice play awareness of where the ball is at all times and seems to be a sure tackler.

He's definitely a 1st RD athlete but I didn't see #1 overall pick kind of athlete, so the Jags are taking a chance at paying him that kind of money if they're asking him to become a pure DE in the NFL, which they probably will given his measurables. One thing I didn't see in his film is how well he can bend coming off the edge because they didn't ask him to do that so that's a risk. Not saying he won't succeed in that role because he probably will, but will he succeed at the level of #1 overall pick money? That is the question.....

The 6-foot-5, 275-pound Walker, who has some raw elements to his game but an extremely high ceiling for his skills, joins former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence as the second straight top overall selection by the Jaguars. Walker was a one-year starter whose production (13 tackles for loss and 9 1/2 sacks) doesn’t jump out because he was part of a deep rotation at Georgia

The professionals apparently look at different criteria than you do.

They are jealous. Not only is UGA the National champion, they also got the #1 draft pick and 5 defensive players in the first round. A new record.

chalk up another success for uga.

Have to wait and see what he does first. We don’t go around bragging about Jamarcus Russell being a #1 pick for obvious reasons.

Yeah, probably that's what he would answer. I am not going to say that Walker was the best college [layer in this years draft. But that is not the way the draft works no matter how many people want it to work that way. Needs, health, contract all figure in and more on who is drafted and when they are drafted. Oh well.

It's like talking to a brick wall on here sometimes.

The Jags sound a lot like Florida. Everyone knows their wonderful record for picking head coaches.

I don't seem to remember us carving them up in the 2nd half.

I seem to recall a big UGA win and a crying OU quarterback.

I seem to recall our first look at who Riley really was as an "offensive genius" standing there looking shellschocked all 2nd half because he didn't have anything else to answer with.

And that's how it went the rest of his tenure at OU.

Your QB was a real work of art too. Taunting Georgia players pregame wasn’t a good strategy. Only fired them up more

So what? Players taunt each other before just about every game. It's part of the sport.

When we needed to stop you, we did and we scored more points. Hell maybe Kirby is an offensive genius as well out scoring such a high powered offense.....

Well congrats. You stumped "offensive genius for a half" Lincoln Riley and ran all over Mike "dumpster fire defense" Stoops.

Had you guys just rushed 3 and dropped 8 into coverage the whole game Riley wouldn't have scored any points at all.
