9 game SEC schedule

Its peak offseason right now. I know this has been discussed before, but what would be the major hang up with a 9 game schedule?
Main cons I see is unbalanced home/away and how to select the SECCG. Neither of those seem like huge problems though. Biggest pros would be you get to play every SEC team at least every other year, and it also makes everyone's schedule strength a little more even.
I'd envision 5 permanent opponents and 4 rotating every year, something like this:
Alabama
Permanent - Tennessee, Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss, Miss St
Year 1 - Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky
Year 2 - Missouri, S Carolina, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt
Arkansas
P - Texas A&M, LSU, Ole Miss, Miss St, Missouri
Y1 - Alabama, Auburn, Florida, S Carolina
Y2 - Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Vanderbilt
Auburn

Not a bad suggestion. I guess the divisions would be out the window though.

Not gonna happen
ACC and SEC play too. many cross conference
B1G, B12, and PAC don't
No way to balance this so the best solution is for the west schools to pick up cross border non conference games if they can.
Mizzou plays Kansas
Arkansas plays Texas
TAMU plays OU

Yes. Its absurd that - for example - LSU is in the same conference as UGA and will play in Athens once every 16 years and twice overall. There are non-conference opponents that play more frequently.
14 is just to damn many. And some want to go to 16, which in reality will just be two 8 team conferences.

Auburn wouldn't willingly arse frick itself into oblivion by taking all 5 other Big Six schools on a annual basis. I know y'all have had some dumb AD's but even your current one isn't dumb enough to think this is a good idea.

Seriously, that's just stupid

Looks good. Make it happen.

At first glance, seems quite reasonable. However, will not a 9-game schedule affect all the future scheduling that power 5 schools have been conducting with each other? If I'm correct, I think I remember something along that line.

Not bad.
Ole Miss should play Vandy though.
Have Auburn play Miss State instead of Ole Miss.
Vanderbilt play Ole Miss instead of State.

LSU. We don’t want Florida will take anyone else

unbalanced home/away
This is a huge problem and the main reason.
Any scenario needs divisions though. You need round robin play otherwise tie breakers are going to be nightmares. Hell we already have some issues with tie breakers currently.

LSU and Tennessee get off easier in that format.
All the other Big Six teams play three permanent Big Six teams.
Plus, as an LSU fan, I want Auburn every year. That has been a great game for both teams. Not scared of
Competition.

Won’t work until all SEC play decent P5 OOC annually. USC UK UGA and FL all have ACC in state rival games each year. Sorry Bama ...Duke don’t count.

Would that involve a "black hole"?

4 games State must play every year. LSU, Auburn, Bama, & ole miss.

Hey dumbass, you know Bama had a long series with Penn State among other solid non conference games
Posted on 6/26/19 at 5:26 pm to fibonaccisquared
I chose those teams because Bama, UF, UGA, and UT are our traditional rivals and people are wanting us to play them every season like we used to.
Here is an alternative: Y1: P: Bama, Georgia, Florida, A&M,LSU
R: Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, Ole Miss,
Y2: P: Bama, Georgia, Florida, A&M, LSU
R: South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Miss. St, Missouri
Y3: Y1 again, Y4: Y2 again, etc
Also imo they would keep it the way it is now with the addition of another game against the other division.
In reality auburn's conference schedule might look like this: Y1:Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, Ole Miss, Miss St, A&M,
Florida ( permanent cross division),
Georgia ( permanent cross-division),division)
Tennessee( rotating cross division opponent)
Y2: same as year one but with South Carolina as rotating cross division opponent
Y3: same with Kentucky as cross division
Y4: same but with Missouri
Y5: Vanderbilt is cross division opponent
Y6: schedule re starts with year 1
Y7: year 2 schedule, etc.
