The Bears starting offensive line in the Super Bowl weighed 259, 271, 277, 281, and 282 lbs. Their lines would get destroyed by a good college team from today's game.

Yeah, I don't think it's necessarily Alabama per se—the question would be where the cutoff would be for the weakest college team of today that could dominate any NFL team from the 80s.

85 Bears vs 2021 Alabama
Long ago they used to have The College All Star game, here a team of college all stars took on the NFL Champs, yep, the college kids won a few of these games. OBVIOUSLY...it meant far more to them than the pros, so we do have to question the intensity.

Anyway...

Today there are high school offensive lines averaging 300 pounds, QB's who can cook a 4,4, it is a whole other football world than once upon a time.

Yes Alabama would lose to the 2021 Jags but do see them too big too fast for the 85 Bears.

I think the bigger questions is - could a team from today even finish a game vs any NFL team from the 80s.

The answer is no.

Alabama might catch 1 pass all game.

After the others receiver see that guy carried out on stretcher, the others will not attempt to catch another pass the rest of the game that isn't near a sideline.

Did you actually watch NFL football in the 80s?

Nobody thought it meant anything back then, and nobody does today. So they quit doing it completely.

He was bigger than that. He started around 330 and ended around 380.

Also, he wasn't the biggest lineman even in the 80s.

Ok, point was today he'd be number 17 on the Bears when it came to 300 pounders.

Payton lacked quicks, he'd be swarmed.

You picked the least physical team of the Saban era and matched them with a team where being the most physical was a large part of the game.

Who the frick on the Alabama defense is going to tackle Walter Payton? This Alabama defense that hasn't been able to stop the run against college kids is going to come in and stop the run against a much more physical team and one of the best running backs of all time?

Do you just not understand the match up? Do you understand who is on the 85 Bears team?

You must be trolling, because nobody is this dumb naturally.

Welcome to the board Avante. Don't let the Debbie Downer and the Negative Nancy types make you ( develop a thick skin quickly ) afraid to post.

If they do, make a quick getaway !
