LOL Auburn thinking they'd be a playoff team in any scenario.

Yes, If you read the entire thread it assumed one of them will win out, the record is based upon one winning out. Obviously if Miami wins out Clemson will have two losses but addresses either scenario. Sorry, i thought based on previous statements that was obvious...i will spell it out better next time.

Common opponents only come after Record and National Championships. Let me spell it out for you. If you have two teams who are 12-1 then you go to Conference Championships, if both have won a CC then you go down to head-to-head or Common Opponent. In our scenario Bama would not make it to Common Opponent because they lose the Conference Championship. Mark Packer said exactly what I am saying yesterday on his show...Bama is out based on that scenario, this is what many Bama fans have been worried about. It isn't their fault it is just the scheduling hand they were dealt and they have played it the best they could.

And your statement.

Did you not pay any attention to the precedent and what happened last year?

Just made my point tOSU was 12-1, Penn State was 11-2. They didn't apply the Conference Championships won because their record was not the same....see how this works? A 12-1 Non-conference Champion will not get in over a 12-1 Conference Champion. a 12-1 non-conference Champion may get in over a 11-2 conference champion.
Kirby Hocutt, Chair of last years CFB Committee said exactly the same thing...though he mentioned it was in the by-laws about records being the same they must take the conference champion. I can't verify that though.

Additionally, based on your statement of last years precedent...tOSU jumped TCU primarily because they didn't consider TCU a Conference Champion so that metric didn't apply. Remember the end of year rankings are based on completed season, while during the year it is based on projection of capability derived from current performance.

No way we drop from #1 to #5. None.

I would not bank on that at ALL. The media is already trying their damnedest to get Ohio State in despite 2 losses. Any perceived weakness from a non-OSU team will be pounced on.

If there was an 8 team playoff this year, the Auburn game would have NO importance to Alabama. They could rest their wounded and not have to worry about the SECCG. A 1-loss Alabama would undoubtedly be playoff bound.
