It’ll be the longest streak going either way since the schools first played a football game in 1899. The current streak is tied with one that started in 1960 where LSU won six games consecutively.

The Aggies’ longest winning streak was started in 1991 where they won five games consecutively.

LSU’s current winning streak began in the year 2011 (2010 season) with a one year gap between games (2011 season). It resumed in 2012 when A&M joined the SEC West.

Here’s to making history

5-6 in the last 11 played

So LSU went 20 years without a win over A&M and stopped playing us because we whipped that arse 5 times in a row?

Looks like the same thing happened after the 1920s. Got tired of losing to Daddy so you turned tail and stopped playing us.

And in the 70s too. Every time there is a drought in games between A&M and LSU, A&M always has a winning streak leading up to it.

Just FYI, A&M agreed to cancel the series in the 90s. The SEC was expanding and CFB was going through a lot of change. Neither school was high on playing that game at that point.

ETA from TexAgs:

quote:

No contract was breached, this is one of the many urban legends on this board.

The series was set for 10 games with a rollover. After 10 games (86-95), LSU elected to end the series as the SEC was now an 8 game conference on an 11 game schedule. LSU wanted 7 home games a year and the only way to guarantee that was by playing 3 non-conf games at home (and as the schedule was only 11 games, that meant ALL non-conf games were to be in Baton Rouge).

For A&M, we agreed with them. The Big 12 moved the Ags to 8 conference games as well and we were angling for 7 home games too. Why it was we agreed to play USL on the road in '96, only Wally and RC know for sure.

LSU paid the amount that was owed to end the series and thus, the series was ended.

By the way, the idea that it ended because we were winning...LSU went 19-5 in '96 and '97, we went 15-10

The funny part of this is ; you all think you have a better program. you have lost 6 in a row and about to be 7. What you did in the 90's doesn't matter. Our program is shite right now. Texas A&M is a fricking dumpster fire right now.

Wasn’t an LSU poster, or at least doesn’t seem to be.

So irrelevant this season that Auburn decided to take the second half off to look ahead at the rest of their season...

A&M was an all male military academy for most of the 20th century. Imagine what the record would look like if both schools were on equal footing.

fun fact: 45% of A&M's all time wins vs LSU occurred before the end of WW2

I wonder why that is. I wonder why a military colleges football team would have not been so good during the 1940s and 1960s?

We just recently moved to the SEC and upgraded facilities and stadium. Prior to that we were not on equal footing.
