So, a delayed side effect of the days of the slave trade?

You can even make an arguement that OKIE is in the south. Football is good below the Mason Dixon line

Oklahoma is essentially a Southern state as well. Oklahoma is made up primarily of Native Americans and other Southerners who moved west after the Civil War. There are many places in Oklahoma named after places in other Southern states.
The Okies that inhabit agricultural California are the descendants of poor sharecropping cotton farmers.

Dummass......South Carolina created the Deep South. Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, and parts of Louisiana and Florida were originally part of South Carolina. The South started with us....

TN was a part of NC not SC but NC couldn't effectively govern us due to the mountains.
TN is also Upper South along with NC, VA, etc. not Deep South.
But yes, SC is 100 percent Deep South.

WIKIPEDIA SAYS:
The term "Deep South" is defined in a variety of ways: Most definitions include the states Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Mississippi, and Louisiana.

The lowcountry of SC and GA is about as quintessential old deep south as you can find

I don’t see it changing anytime soon.
Midwest/Northeast doesn’t have the athletes or the commitment.. tOSU will play the game, but the handful of other options are way too committed to academics to get involved.
West coast? Plenty of athletes, but college football isn’t on the radar of priorities. The academic focus as well.
The south has the talent, interest & commitment.
