Primo is an elite talent but that doesn't mean he'll be an elite player as a freshman
Herb and Bruner are very good role players

I'd welcome Nembhard back. He'd be a junior with two years of starting experience under his belt
I don't think there'd be much of a downgrade if he left, though. Appleby is going to be very good and plays a completely different style

What makes you skeptical about them?

To expect most freshmen to come in and be "elite" is a bit of a stretch, Primo is in the 40s in ranking too, I wouldn't count on him tearing it up as a freshman. Every player is different but usually even half the 5-stars arent that great as freshmen.

Primo is a 5 star easily. His ranking doesn’t show that because ESPN and Rivals refuses to evaluate recruits from Canada

Primo is a multi-year guy, not a stud, definite one-and-done type, and Herb and Bruner are both very solid role players who can't do certain things

247 barely gave him a 5th-star, it's not like its no question, ESPN and Rivals have him rated, just not as highly as you want. Not like he's unrated by either, both gave him 4-stars.
Nembhard was a composite 5 star from Canada just 2 cycles ago.

There are issues with both of these sites regarding him but its not because of that

I've never seen him play but his offer list certainly doesn't scream elite or 5 star.

A core of Johnson, Lewis, Locke, Mann, Payne, Appleby, and Duruji might be the best combo of talent/experience on paper in the conference

Like George alluded to, I don't think you can really know if any recruit's game will translate and pan out at the next level/stop.
That being said, I am fully expecting at least a tourney invite next year, but I also eventually buy in and get my heart broken every year, so what do I know?

Yea, Primo is certainly talented and the fact that he is probably a multi-year guy is huge. He matured physically and was healthy the last 6 months and his stock skyrocketed playing at Basketball Without Borders and he was the youngest player on the Canadian U-19 team the summer before. I'm pretty certain he would have ended up at an elite place if he hadn't peaked late like he did.
Still a toss-up with those guys how good they are when they get to campus. Luckily we won't need him to step in and play 40 minutes a night like we did with Kira or Collin.

I think the same argument could be made this past year. I'm just not sold on White as an on the floor coach. I never have been. He can recruit though.

We were pretty young this year. Everyone who got healthy minutes was a freshman or a sophomore besides Blackshear, who was a grad transfer
We won't be relying on any freshmen next season -- I wouldn't be shocked if either Ruzhentsev or Osifo snagged a meaningful back-up role, but the core of our team will be exclusively sophomores and juniors. We should be very good over the next two seasons, and if we aren't, White's head should be on a platter

Is Petty for sure gone?

None of them have really said or done anything either way. The assumption, obviously, is that Kira is gone. Petty is anybody's guess really. He hasn't said much to people about his general feelings towards getting to pro ball, so we really don't know. I think the general thought is that overseas isn't a real high likelihood due to his family situation and his desire to be around them.
However, I think he is probably good enough to stick around the D-League and possibly work his way onto short contracts in the NBA, so if that is the route he wants to take he should have that opportunity.

He has all the tools. He's just seemed to me to lack the mentality. When he struggles with his shot you can see it visibly in his body language.
