There are officially 13 new players — and the Goodyear Blimp — who will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in December.

quote:

The 2019 College Football Hall of Fame class was announced on Monday, with former Texas quarterback Vince Young, Wisconsin offensive lineman Joe Thomas, USC safety Troy Polamalu, Notre Dame's Raghib Ismail, Florida State defensive back Terrell Buckley, Oklahoma defensive back Rickey Dixon, John Carroll linebacker London Fletcher, Texas A&M defensive lineman Jacob Green, NC State wide receiver Torry Holt, Arkansas running back Darren McFadden, Arizona State quarterback Jake Plummer, Michigan State running back Lorenzo White and Ole Miss linebacker Patrick Willis.

Congrats to McFadden, Green and Willis. They all belong in the Hall.

Once they go to the NFL it is very difficult for me to separate their college career from their NFL career. I can't remember what Polamalu was like in college, for instance. I'm sure the selectors are good about basing their decisions based only on the players college career and not on their NFL career, though.

That's strange. It's very easy for me to separate McFadden in college and McFadden in the NFL.

Surprised that Al Wilson didn't get the nod, but this was his first time on the ballot. Thought Roy Kramer might get the nod, as well.

A 1st team All American selection is a requirement for selection. I guess that's what keeps players out that didn't really have great college careers, but HOF pro careers. Joe Montana will never be in.

Man Patrick Willis was a beast, wish he was still playing.

I’m not familiar with the current criteria, but it seems crazy to me that McFadden and Willis are already eligible. They are just over a decade since ending their playing careers. Peyton Manning went in two years ago, almost 20 years after his playing days at Tennessee.

I remember McFadden much better in the NFL than I do in college. I know he was great in both places, though.

He was actually pretty average in the NFL.

The CFB Hall of Fame needs to change their guidelines for eligibility. It's really silly that Howard Schnellenberger and Pat White are not eligible to be inducted because they don't meet all of the criteria. But I'm happy for all of the players who got in.

McFadden was borderline unstoppable in college, and frankly got robbed of the Heisman in his sophomore year. In the pros, he had one really strong year, another above average, and the rest were completely forgettable

This. I'll never forget watching him dismantle national champion LSU, in Tiger Stadium, in 2007.

One of my favorite RB's to watch. He just killed Auburn by himself in 2006.

fricking garbage Kevin Faulk didn't get in again.

He's still 4th all time in the SEC in yards from scrimmage, was a nationally recognized player in college (cover of SI), and had a great pro career.

He turned LSU's entire program around by staying home. He's an SEC legend.

Accolades:
First-team All-American (1996)
3× First-team All-SEC (1996–1998)
SEC Freshman of the Year (1995)
4th All Time SEC Rusher (yards)
4th All Time SEC Yards from Scrimmage
2nd All Time SEC Touchdowns

And look how long it took Derrick Thomas to get in!!!
Heck, he was inducted into the PFHOF before the CFHOF. DISGUSTING!

Perfect example of what I was saying. For whatever reason I was thinking he was great in the NFL, too.

You must be young then. McFadden got a bad break when the Raiders drafted him, the Raiders at the time were historically the worst team in NFL for a decade. McFadden couldn't carry that team by himself.

But in college he was an unstoppable force. Pretty much every team in the SEC remembers the day McFadden walked into their stadium and clubbed the shite out of them. Those were fun days to be a Razorback.. god if we only had a QB during those times.
