The Teams: (12-2) Missouri vs. (8-5) Arkansas

The Final Score: Missouri 38 - Arkansas 7

quote:

Colorful confetti flip-flopping around him, fans in black and gold chanting his name, Tony Temple and his Missouri teammates were basking in a terrific ending to a magical season.

Tony Temple set a Cotton Bowl rushing record and came close to breaking the all-time NCAA mark for yards rushing in a bowl game.

quote:

Only one thing was wrong -- the setting. This was the AT&T Cotton Bowl, not the Allstate BCS Championship Game they were a win away from reaching, and it wasn't the FedEx Orange, Tostitos Fiesta or Allstate Sugar Bowl like they thought they deserved.

Motivated instead of deflated, the guys from the "Show-Me State" did their best to prove they belonged in the BCS by routing Darren McFadden and Arkansas 38-7 on Tuesday. Temple led the way,
rushing for 281 yards and four touchdowns, both records in the 72-year history of the Cotton Bowl.

quote:

Temple cracked the code pretty early, finding no linebackers after he broke the line of scrimmage in the first half. He had three carries of 22 yards, a 38-yarder and a 41-yarder as part of his 159 yards and two touchdowns by halftime.

Temple pulled a hamstring in the third quarter and missed several series but said he was ready to return about the same time Pinkel heard that Temple was close to the record.

He went back for just one play -- a spinning, tackle-breaking 40-yard run into the end zone -- and then rode back to the bench on the arms of Daniel and a lineman. The lift was part-celebration, part-transportation because Temple tweaked his hamstring around the 5-yard line.

"It was one of the best runs I've ever seen," Daniel said. "That was awesome."

quote:

McFadden ran 21 times for 105 yards and a touchdown but didn't play the fourth quarter. The Heisman finalist pushed his single-season total to 1,830 yards and his career total to 4,590.

At least the Hogs looked good. They wore all-red uniforms for the first time, a tribute to outgoing program icon Frank Broyles.

Yes we know, Mizzou is super proud of beating a team without a head coach

Killz... are you really going all in about beating an Arkansas team coached by our DC? A team that was lucky to get as far as they did considering the entire season was devoted to the aftermath of the Nutt vs Malzahn cluster frick? You don't even make any funny comments or anything.

I'm going to assume that this is the craptacular final rehearsal before the show starts that some plays have. Hopefully so, a crappy last practice is supposed to mean a good performance.

So a 12 win Mizzou team that had a legit shot at the national title weeks earlier beat the crap out of a bottom feeder from the SEC that finished with 8 wins?

Ya don't say...

Transitive property doesn't work in CFB bruh. Hell, Mizzou beat KU earlier and KU still got the bid for the Orange Bowl.

Nice downplay.

Downplay the Vols inability to beat Mizzou once since they joined the SEC. Go!

All the "experts" are predicting them to beat us this year. Vol fans have already put it in their record book as a W.

Arkansas was missing a key piece to that team if I remember right. Who was it? Oh yea, a coach.

With McFadden y'all didn't need a coach...until you faced Mizzou and Tony Temple.

Ouch.
