Very well done and put that tragedy in an entire new light for me.
I don't understand a lot of the strange traditions at A&M but sincerely pray that those families, that lost loved one's, have found peace.
Amazingly well done piece by 20/20.

I had no idea this was a news special about people dying. I feel bad for having "lol'd" at the subject when it came up earlier.
Apologies to anyone who may have taken offense to it. I just figured it was someone trying to get people to look at some arbitrary Aggy thing on the news.

dont know what you posted but bonfire is the one thing that is off limits to flaming A&M. we give opposing fanbases plenty of material to make fun of us but if you cant see past the rivalry and respect the 12 lives that were taken from this incident, well then you just dont get it.

I wasn't able to catch the 20/20 piece today, but if you'd like to see more, there's a documentary called "The Burning Desire" that will take you through the history and tradition of Bonfire, in addition to detailing the events surrounding the collapse. It's a very well done film.
I know it aired on SEC Network during the A&M takeover. Not sure if it's going to re-air at any point though.

He wasn't flaming A&M fans. He was just bringing up the 20/20 piece on it. I've never seen it, but I want to now. Heard it was done well.

Making fun of college kids dying during an accident is completely. 100%. Trashy.

Great job telling others what they can't do, basically encouraging flaming.

Do you honestly believe he doesn't know that? That is exactly why he said it. He's an alter.

Although this was a horrible tragedy, I think it's sad that the school no longer sponsors or sanctions the bonfire on campus. I'm aware that there is a smaller, private bonfire but it just isn't the same. Although it was a freak accident, I guess it would have been a P.R. nightmare to bring it back to campus.

I don't know how many fellow ranters have Charter (On Demand) but I just watched both hours of it - was a 2 parter, and all I can say is It has TOTALLY changed my perspective of Aggieland. Watch it if you can folks- Life altering...Peace Aggies

I honestly thought it was a re-air, but I watched a good bit of it. Fairly well done piece.

Appreciate the kind words. Aggieland is a special place to us Aggies, even if the outside world doesn't understand why.

Where can I find this 20/20 piece?

I thoroughly enjoyed it... It was very well done. I think the bonfire was a cool tradition, but it also seemed a little too damn dangerous.

Maybe. But we're paying an unseen cost as a culture because we're afraid to take risks anymore. Parents hardly even let their kids play outside unsupervised anymore.
Lots of people, though not myself, found incredible value to the bonfire experience, and still are. It's off campus now, but it's not gone.
