Congrats to the Hawgs as well. Will be interesting to see what impact the coaching change has on the football class but LSU will easily stay in the top 20.

Jay Johnson is doing great work for baseball, he looks like the perfect hire. And we know tPear is getting his guys.

Yeah, not disputing the content - just the choice to use Rivals as the measuring stick in a world with a composite recruiting ranking.

ETA: LSU is ranked 23rd on 247Sports Basketball recruiting.

Print the t-shirts. You can tell those posters who follow recruiting who think it is the end all for success. Truth is the SEC programs that are successful are the ones that develop talent regardless what the geeks from the recruiting services rank them. I dare say the All- time five star SEC team would not be anymore impressive than the all 3 star SEC team.

247 (and in general) basketball team rankings are a little silly, because of the small number of recruits you take in a year. LSU has two guys: a four star and a five star committed. It is ranked ten spots lower than Penn State, for example, whose class is one four star and four three stars. Ranking by total points is somewhat nonsense, because anyone would take LSU's two guys over Penn State's four right now.

I don’t disagree with any of that, either.

Recruiting can always be a bit of a crapshoot, because you have 3 things that get input into it:

Rating/score of the recruits
Number of recruits
Need at position (probably the hardest to judge)

I.E. - if Team X has 4 5* WRs and Team Y has 4 3*, then is it the same to both teams if they both sign two 4*?

There are no “big 3 sports” in college athletics. That’s a professional sports league concept. No one cares about college baseball outside of a few schools.

Why are you using Rivals instead of 247 composite, which aggregates all recruiting services?

We can use 247 if you’d like

That just means Arkansas is the only team in top 20 recruiting for all sports

That's fine as long as you are using a legitimate metric.

For example, Devon Achane was a 3 star on rivals.

That’s what teams who are recruiting poorly say.

We’ve been there.

4* top 100 player Justice Williams reclassified and is already with the team. Probably knocked us down a bit.
