How bad are women's sports at MSU?

MSU's women's basketball team went 30-0, won the SEC outright, and lost the national championship game. But they still finished last in women's sports.

But looking at men's sports ...

9. MSU
10. LSU

We'd be #2 if we had the same # of teams.

MSU Women finish dead last even after playing for a Natty. The other programs have to be putrid. We gotta get in on that equestrian and rifle competition

I might be reading it wrong but it looks like its sorted by the quotient, which is total points divided by the "total # of participating teams" whatever the frick that means.

So it looks like # of teams is accounted for in the ranking.

Not surprising. Women in South Carolina rule the men in all facets of life.

Just sayin'.

How is it even possible to be last with a WBB National Finalist?

That’s one sport.
How’d they do in the following?

- Cross Country
- Equestrian
- Golf
- Gymnastics
- Soccer
- Softball
- Swimming & Diving
- Tennis
- Track & Field
- Volleyball

Except that you'd have to stretch your budget and administrative responsibilities over more teams. That has an effect.

I think the scoring is based on how many teams there are vs your position in the final standings. Equestrian winner gets 4 points whereas Basketball winner gets 14 points.

One more reason to live as far away from SC as possible and still stay in the South.

Looks like you are correct. I looked at it wrong.

I was curious, so I looked

1st in women's basketball

10th in women's golf
12th in women's soccer
5th in women's cross country (only counts for 1/4 of a sport)
10th in indoor track (1/4 of a sport)
12th in outdoor track (1/2 a sport)
11th/13 in softball
7th in women's tennis
13th/13 in volleyball (4 games behind 12th- wow!)

So you're saying the poll is total shite then right. No way State is last with winning WBB and not finishing last in any other sport besides volleyball.
