VERY unlikely. With all the losses through the portal, graduation..losses of coaches....it'll be very difficult for them to remain relevant. This is new territory for them. It could happen, but it's not anywhere near a given.
Other than @ND their schedule looks pretty easy.

Adding playoff teams isn’t going to help that either. All we’re doing is adding extra games for players to get hurt in and I don’t know how that’s going to play with so many having NFL desires.

Btw, when the last seed upsets the #1 its going to get glorious. Just ask college basketball fans because it will happen every so often

I don't think a 16 seed has ever beat a 1 seed in the tourny, but I could be wrong..

Is 16 the proposal? At 8 you will definitely see it. I think at 16 we will too. Towards the end of every college football season you see upsets left and right. Yes, I know the post season is different but you get the point.

I’ve heard 12 with top 4 getting a bye.

At this point in the year, the ones willing to spend enough money to be a contender.

No more than 8 and that's including some very unlikely upsets

Every SEC team has a chance to win it, or at least compete for it. They just have to win the SEC.

The reason we need a 13 team playoff, give the other Conference’s a chance.
Stranger things have happened.

I didn't go back and look at each team's preseason ranking or their trendline in seasons leading up or anything like that, but a cursory glance at the last 25 national champions maybe 2 or 3 stand out as not considered a perennial contender program.
Tennessee being one. No offense intended, actually quite the opposite. Kudos!
National championships are simply not a realistic goal for the vast, vast majority of college football programs.

No UGA in my opinion. Just too many losses in talent, leadership, coaches and depth.
