A birdie told me. They will say it is for the fans but it will be for money. Must play 1 p5 ooc opponent to be playoff eligible.
CCG on 2nd Sat of Dec.
Playoff expands to 6 teams with a semifinal the 3rd Sat of Dec where 3-6 play.
Final 4 on NYE.
Everyone gets what they want as fans, still get some cupcake opponents to take the kids to, everyone maintains rivalries, no more "we got screwed out of the playoff", and two additional weekends of football that will bring in a hundred million dollars of additional revenue across the P5.
Change my mind.

So playoff teams play up to sixteen games?
Seems like we are asking a lot of these kids

You lost me at 9 conference game schedule.
Home/Away ratio doesn't work for a balanced season.

Look at what basketball kids do during the season. They basically don't attend classes.
Football can still be head and shoulders above bball in the student athlete integrity department.
16 games over 5 months isnt too much.

It does if you go to 13 game season. That's the trick.

Basketball has 18 conference games with 9 home games a piece.
You can't do that with 9 conference football games.
It doesn't work.

So the P5 schools are going to demand a 13th game is added even though they have been crying that expanding the playoff past 4 teams will add too much stress on their student athletes both on the field and in the classroom?

So Bama is going to have 5 conference home games while Auburn has 4 conference home games?
That won't fly. Ever.
Unless you have each team play a neutral site, it isn't going to work.

It flip flops around. That's inevitable in any scheduling system.

No one is going to agree to flopping around when they actually see a real live schedule.
That is like getting auburn to vote for @UGA and @Bama in the same season. You might trick some people once. But when they actually look at the seasonal imbalance, no one will support it.

Personally I would rather see 11 game regular seasons with 10 conference games and the hell with the sister of the poor school games.
It will never happen of course, just a thought

Just asking...
Why would you want less football?
Serious question.
And the follow up is on a scale of 1-10, how closely do you follow recruiting?

With the conference championship games and playoffs the finalists would still play 14 games. That's quite a bit.
For that matter 12 games with 10 conference games wouldn't bother me either, I guess I would just like to see more conference games instead of the crud games like this week.

You can't tell the difference in basketball and football?

Less football is a bad idea to me.
You've come away from that, so I can drop it.
Adding more conference games means less home games. And in some definitions (home season ticket packages, home retail/hotel/restaurants, and general supply of home tickets), we come back to less football being bad.
UGA schedules as well OOC as anyone. And that means fewer home games. So maybe that is a push in the argument.
I do have a last follow up question? How desperate are you to see UGA vs Arkansas this year? How desperate are you to see Ole Miss?
More conference games does not mean less crappy games.
By definition... more conference games means more of the same. And half of the conference is below average.
I would much rather see UGA versus Notre Dame, Clemson, Texas, Oklahoma State, Arizona State, and Colorado.

Two things that don't matter when it comes to college football

10 Conference games regular season. No Conference championship games. 32 team playoff.
