I get that I'm dealing with a youngster here, but objective is the MLB, NBA, NHL, where everyone plays everyone during the season and the same number of teams from each conference gets in the playoffs. That's objective, sonny. There's no way to objectively rank the conferences when they don't play the same teams. Anyone who has followed sports for more than 15 minutes understands that
I quantified my comments concerning objective. I don't mind having a subjective component however the entire process shouldn't be subjective. CFB is the equivalent of figure skating as things currently stand.
The objective component is that each conference gets a champion into the field and the other schools get a guaranteed spot for their best. It's not about ranking them it's about giving everyone that earned something an opportunity. Like all the other sports in the world. CFB has been masquerading as a sport when in reality it is on par with a cheerleading competition.
As an adult you resorted to name calling pretty quickly, old timer.

Barnies have started lots of threads claiming “life’s not fair.” The CFB is not fair.

shot in the playoffs?
Regular season injuries are part of the game. Post-season injuries in meaningless games with near certain predetermined results in the vast majority of the games is what I'm talking about.

Interesting point of difference. Injury in one game vs another.

You can't see the difference between a player getting injured in an obligatory beatdown of some 3-loss "playoff" team VS getting injured in a 4 team semifinal against potential top competition?

Both are games.

Adding meaningless games is dumb and raises risk unnecessarily. If you don't agree,
The comparisons to baseball, basketball and even the NFL are also short sighted from the large expansion crowd. CFB simply doesn't have the parity that those other sports/leagues have.
That is not to say that on any given Saturday someone can't lose a game. shite happens. But, the regular season should be there to account for that "whole body" of work. The post-season is single game elimination. A 7-5 PAC 12 Champ from the weakest division in CFB who lucked into a fluke win in a CCG or an 8-4 AAC Champ (honestly even an 11-1 or 12-0 AAC champ) has no business getting a playofff shot over other teams from P5 who play much harder schedules over the course of the season.
It's absurd. 6-8 teams should be the max with no preference for conference champs.
Again, the issue at hand is lack of parity and too many teams in the major CFB division. Solve that problem first and then moderate expansion to 6-8 teams including conference champs would be more palatable. Either way, it effectively kills the bowl seasons and competition level of non-playoff teams due to opt outs. Both of those aspects are pretty shite given the traditions of the Football Bowl Subdivision

Really then why do basketball teams hang final 4 banners when they don’t win a championship? It does matter.
Is it really so hard to take what I said and apply it to the context of what I was replying too?

A 12 team playoff won't let Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State offer recruits a chance to be part of the playoffs, it will let them guarantee recruits they'll be part of the playoffs.

Why is this story getting so much of a response. It came out two days ago but this board is acting like its new and freaking out

It was officially announced as the recommendation which all but assures it will happen with maybe some tweaks.

The only reason that matters to me is that the bowl games have become a farce with the opting out. The most important games need to be at the end of the season and not some silly consultation games.
This is a compelling point, but there will still be some selfish dickheads that will sit out anyway.
