9. ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE

Home games: New Mexico State (Sept. 7), Southern Miss (Sept. 21), Ole Miss (Sept. 28), Tennessee (Oct. 19), Arkansas (Homecoming - Oct. 26), LSU (Nov. 9), Western Carolina (Nov. 23)

Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide are expected to contend for the national championship, meaning it will be another exciting season in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide don't have a marquee nonconference opponent on the slate, but annual rivals Tennessee and LSU will visit Bryant-Denny Stadium.

8. OLE MISS REBELS

quote:

Home games: Southern Illinois (Sept. 8), Alabama (Sept. 15), Louisiana Monroe (Oct. 6), Auburn (Oct. 20), South Carolina (Nov. 3), Mississippi State (Nov. 22)

The rows of tents on "The Grove" are just one of many features that give Ole Miss one of the most impressive tailgating environments in the country. After a bowl ban the past two seasons, Ole Miss supporters will be happy to see a team that is eligible to make the postseason again.

The schedule also features visits from some of the SEC West's projected top teams, including a meeting with in-state rival Mississippi State to end the regular season.

7. NEBRASKA HUSKERS

6. MICHIGAN WOLVERINES

5. TEXAS LONGHORNS

4. LSU TIGERS

quote:

Home games: Georgia Southern (Aug. 31), Northwestern State (Sept. 14), Utah State (Oct. 5), Florida (Homecoming - Oct. 12), Auburn (Oct. 26), Arkansas (Nov. 23), Texas A&M (Nov. 30)

Get your taste buds ready. LSU tailgates have some of the best food around, and the schedule is layered with intriguing matchups from SEC foes.

3. GEORGIA BULLDOGS

quote:

Home games: Murray State (Sept. 7), Arkansas State (Sept. 14), Notre Dame (Sept. 21), South Carolina (Oct. 12), Kentucky (Oct. 19), Missouri (Nov. 9), Texas A&M (Nov. 23)

Athens, Ga., has lived up to its "Classic City" nickname, producing some memorable tailgates every year. Fans can be found sprawled out all over the spacious campus or downtown at nearby bars before games. Notre Dame makes its first ever trip to Athens this year, and Texas A&M will travel to Sanford Stadium for the first time since 1980.

2. SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS

quote:

Home games: Charleston Southern (Sept. 7), Alabama (Sept. 14), Kentucky (Sept. 28), Florida (Oct. 19), Vanderbilt (Nov. 2), Appalachian State (Nov. 9), Clemson (Nov. 30)

The South Carolina Gamecocks have one of the projected toughest schedules in college football for the upcoming season. However, that means fans could in for many thrilling Saturdays in Columbia.

The Cockabooses provide the premium tailgating experience for a South Carolina fan, and the area around Williams-Brice Stadium will be packed for visits by Alabama, Florida and annual rival Clemson.

1. AUBURN TIGERS

quote:

Home games: Tulane (Sept. 7), Kent State (Sept. 14), Charlotte (Sept. 21), Mississippi State (Sept. 12), Ole Miss (Nov. 2), Georgia (Nov. 16), Samford (Nov. 23), Alabama (Nov. 30)

It could be a great tailgating year on The Plains. Both of the SEC's Mississippi teams will visit Auburn. The Tigers will also be home for the final three weeks of the season, as they host arch rivals Georgia and Alabama in that span.

I've been to non SEC tailgates. The correct 1-10 is some mix of the 14 SEC teams minus probably Vandy, Kentucky, Mizzou, and... one more.

I went to Oxford many years ago, and wore my Alabama sweats. As I went through the Grove, just about everybody invited me to drink, or eat something with them. I would rate them #1....

Went there in 2011 and it was awesome. Tailgatted all day and had a great time. In my opinion, USCe game day and fan interaction is way underrated.

They could cut back on the rooster crows but overall we had fun.

SC went from being one of the worst to one of the best. Cockabooses, condos, and Gamecock Park with electrical hookups for each spot. Fairgrounds are now are lower tier. And luxury RV park being built.

Schools are ruining tailgating. They have to recognize the security issues, but they are trying to profit off it.
