I swear to god if I see one more person talk about how this is going to make a mega ISP I'm going to lose it
Not pointed at you OP. But there's always one idiot whenever this merger is brought up.
Anyway, I'm of the opinion that ISPs should be required to divest their media holdings. Too much conflict of interest to be a content provider and ISP.

quote: In a press release, Delrahim said that a combined AT&T-Time Warner would “greatly harm American consumers” by hiking television bills and hampering innovation, particularly in online television service. The DOJ said AT&T would be able to charge rival distributors such as cable companies “hundreds of millions of dollars more per year” for Time Warner’s programming — payments that would ultimately get passed down to consumers through their cable bills. What do you make of this? Do you think the free market forces that brought on the merger are anti-competitive? Or nah?
No problem with their opinion if they also plan on dissolution of Comcast and NBC Universal along with prohibiting all carriers from owning content.

I don't really see any plans for this to happen.
