Everglade Python Hunting
Posted by razor55red on 1/16/18 at 11:44 am00
You guys really helped me out in October with advice about LA. Now I have another request. My 70-year-old brother-in-law in S.C. wants to go python hunting in the Everglades.
I've done some net research, but there isn't much there. Money isn't that much of an issue, but he would, if possible, prefer to go out with one guide. So, if anyone here has any info regarding this, I would be very grateful.

Maybe I mistyped. When I said one guide, I meant he would prefer to do a solo hunt with guide. Sorry!

Not really at the "guide" stage yet. mostly just a bunch of good ole boys who get lucky with the draw or buy the permits from those who were lucky in the draw. But then again I've seen guys down in Immokalee, Carnestown and Indiantown guide people on gator and duck hunts that pretty much equated to driving them out into the Glades on an airboat and saying: "Well, I guess they aren't around today." But there are good guides and trips to be taken down there just be wary and do your homework my friend.

What? Pretty sure literally anyone can do it unless this changed recently, which I don't know why it would. Its a nuisance hunt they want them all gone, why would they limit the amount of people?
OP, I'm not sure what a guide would do unless you want someone on an airboat? But most of them are killed on the sides of the road I believe, the snakes go out to the open areas to warm themselves.

You are correct. I was mistaken. It was the tournament weekend that had limited entries. Apologies to OP.

Look up Scott Martin on YouTube and find the guys that he went with. He posted a video on there from the fall of him python hunting down there
